LOF7Y
i go to a gym called Chris Elms Personal Fitness its brilliant! its £53 a month but everytime you go you get a personal trainer, they do monthly checks to see how your progressing and even help plan your diet, the one on one interaction is good for motivation and it helps you push harder and harder, they plan your workout personally and always make each time different so it keeps it exciting and better still you can go as many times as you want try looking for something along the same kind of lines around your area
AJI
Help me guys (n gals) if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks. Well....if you are wanting to simply just get fit and lose a few kgs then see if you can find a 5-a-side footy team to join. Doesn't have to be anything serious like a proper league, just a regular kick around with work colleagues does a real good work out. If you are wanting to put on muscle and/or get 'toned' then the gym is where you'll need to get back into. Or mix the above two throughout the week to get the best of both worlds. Neil-NA
I do mountain biking in the summer to keep fitness up, but my main aim is to bulk up quite a bit, so i fill my frame. I'm spending the next few days sorting my diet ready for the gym at 7 am monday morning.
pezzler
I train alone, and have trained on my own for nearly 11 years - I find that time in the gym is best spent in focus on what you're doing At the end of the day you're not there socially, and the only benefit from a training partner is having someone there to spot you. I find having someone there is just a distraction, and your session takes twice as long Obviously its horses for courses and you might benefit from having a training partner, but having to rely on somone else to motivate you is'nt a good place to be. If you really want to get fit then you should be able to fire yourself up ....so there
Kopite
I've built a gym in my garage now Any pics of the garage Matt?
pezzler
I dont know if you're pretty new to the gym, but something to remember is not to overtrain. I'm 5'11" and a lean 108kg - I train for 45mins, 6 times a week and dont follow any routine other than knowing what body part im working. Its not all about 3 hour sessions and miracle routines If your bulking up, dont ignore squats and deadlifts
Geo
Help me guys (n gals) Now i'm not one for being a pussy but i really need help getting back to the gym. I have become so lazy its unreal, apart from walking the dog for 30 mins twice a day i do fook all else, my diet is crap and i feel like death. I started to go to Total Fitness may 08 and went 3-4 times a week, i could never go for more than 6 weeks to 3 months at a time as i just lost interest however i did put on more than 2 stone in the 1 year i was there so i was quite happy. I had a bit of a shoulder injury due to poor technique around last april but it healed quick. In June i took the decision to change gyms to David Lloyd and since then i have been 3 times. I train alone and need some good motivation to get back there if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks. Whats your goals here bud?? Losing weight?? Gaining muscle?? Just getting fit?? Diet is easy to sort out, this is the HARDEST part for anyone to nail, training is the enjoyable part. If you let know what your goals are, i'll be able to help you no problem. Im currently dieting myself, was 16st now down to 14.9lbs, my aim is 13.5st for going on hols, which is easy enough for me to reach as iv been doing this a long time. I had spinal fusion last saturday and so iv been walking for my cardio, 8 laps of my local park, job done!!
Neil-NA
Cheers for the help guys. Main aim is to gain muscle, i'm hoping i will get fit just walking the dog and riding my bike a few times a week. I have no specific goal, i just want to get a nice balanced body rather than big back and school boy chest i have now, i guess i need to work out a 6 month plan as that is how long i have left at the current gym, if i do well then i will renew my membership. I know it wont happen over night whatever i choose.

AJI
I have no specific goal, . Having a 'goal' is something you will probably need to keep motivated. Many people go to the gym and think they have done enough...then they'll lose interest and give up. Having a goal will give you something to keep pushing for and keep your interest in keeping fit. Anything with a competative value will help you a lot. And also serves as a good measurable element in your fitness.
