tony tt Posted January 25, 2010 Share Posted January 25, 2010 Get someone with a jeep and a fuel bowser head to the north and fill it to the tits with V Power get a few of you to pitch in to spread the cost and just do trips up the country when needed. Maybe a bit dodgy as far as transporting fuel is concerned but im sure you could pull the wool over the guards eyes if need be! Shell did have V Power there but it was only 95octane it was a complete con! As far as i know theres no shell stations left in ireland at all. Apart from the North. nigelboyne Posted January 26, 2010 Author Share Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) i know there is a winter and sunmmer blend of e85. can be as low as 70percent ethanol. the additive is only addded to the tanker of fuel as its been loaded so yes there would be inconsistences in the e5 99 octane. have a look on the maxol site mate there should be a maxol station closer to you that does e85. i add 10/15 liters ofe85 104octane to a full tank every time that should balance up and hopefully get the full tank of fuel as close to 99/100 octane. That must be bad for mapping with it being so inconsistant. What power are you running? How long have you been mixing your fuel is it safe? Just checked mate no E85 in westmeath. Rab, i know of at least 20 Big HP single 2jz's over here lol We were going to run 1 of our evo's on E85, from a tuning point of view. Problem is, not only is Irelands supply and quality of E85 inconsistant but its also expensive - one of the main reasons bi-ethonal is used so much in the states is its lower Price typical $1.95 gal Vs $2.75 on average Winter blend is actually E70 as it uses twice as much unleaded fuel to the Blend, Also, beware of mixing E85 with normal unleaded fuels to raise octane levels...you have to remember its not simply a higher octane unleaded fuel like Sunoco 260 GTX for example. E85 only contains 15% unleaded fuel so Unlike normal octane raisers, that other 84% ethanol will upset the Lambda value of the fuel in the tank if its mix ratio is to great. I know its expensive but i would do it in stage's. are the single supras that you know running safe on E5? thats my biggest fear going single and not able to get good enough petrol for it.
