nevins
Common problem with them is the engine control relay. its located under the ecu panel. reach under and give it a tap as this normally works. There are a few types so if you want to try swapping it to test it take the old relay with you to a scrappy and compare them. Iv had a few with crank shaft sensor being faulty but that is rare. Dave
cheers mate wheres the engine relay situated???????? ecu panel do you mean under the ecu itself ???
nevins
yeah mate, its held on by a plastic clip that slides into a runner on the relay itself.
L18msy
Also the two big round multiplugs on the passenger side chassis leg(if my memory serves me right) they are bad for condensation in them which can prevent the car for starting.Seperate the plugs and clean the connectors up. The wee red button at the back of the engine bay can also stop it from starting, make sure the plug is on properly and the centre of the button is pushed in the down position. I had a 106 a few years back and had the same problem now and again.
nevins
the main problem these plugs cause mainly are rad fan not working and power steering, on the odd occasion it does cause a problem with the cs sensor.
L18msy
My 106 broke down and wouldnt start one time, i called my mate who is a mechanic/recovery driver and he sorted the plugs out and it started no bother. He said he had a few call outs with 106 and saxos with the same bother and it seemed to work. Dont you just love french cars! Never again! nevins
The cause of this is that where the plugs are they are open to the elements, and over time the plugs start to corrode and on some occasions short out. They are a nightmare to remove and replace. So many wires in a small confined plug.

Dave
just been and looked cant see 2 big round multi plugs found one just beneath the headlight cant see any red button ?? is this the self destruct button lol. too dark now will clean it out tomorrow maybe i will see the other one in the light .anyway thanks for your help guys
nevins
the plugs are located near the battery under the light mate. depending on model it will have 1 or 2. mine had one and it just unscrews. Can you hear the fuel pump kick in when you turn the ignition on. If you can't its more than likely the relay, the other symptom of this is cutting out while driving and not re starting till a time later. Dave
ok update when it was freezing cold i started the car or tried then i noticed the water pipes were frozen so i left it then it would not start hence thread . the water pump was frozen solid when i turned it over it took 3 theeth off the cam belt and fooked the pump, so its just cost me 140 quid to get it going. box of matches would have been cheaper
