barneybrendan
i bought the mta4`s with broken gearboxes turned out the 2 speed shafts were broken.just put the blue one back together still no drive.with engine off i can select forward and reverse ,when i turn the fly wheel the truck moves in selected direction..Had the gearbox apart about 5 times now, replaced friction pins on the slipper clutch.I am really scratching my head now. When i first put it together i was able to drive it down the road got into second gear, but as i drove it back up sounded like a slipping clutch.Am i missing something stupid:search:

barneybrendan
slipper tight as i can get it spring fully compressed.as for the hub mmmm gearbox out again then.diagram isnt too clear on which way round it goes.
Aero-M
slipper tight as i can get it spring fully compressed.as for the hub mmmm gearbox out again then. The correct way to have it is if you roll the truck forward holding the spur gear while you do, you should have (looking through the rubber plugged hole in the side of the case the two speed half moon come up first, then the set screw, then the gear adjustment screw. This is assuming you have the truck in forward gear. , Nitro is worth it when they are running well though. I tend to stick to my petrol models now, they are so easy to use and maintain, and hardly have any problems. They don't quite have the same buzz as a well tuned nitro though. danny1987
I’ve got 3 nitro cars. One is a race car (from the nitro racer mag) but it’s in bits because both diffs broke! I’ve also got 2 monster trucks but there in bits because I did a jump with one of them and broke both drive shafts and both need their engines setting up because I can’t get them running right!! A few people I know are starting rock crawling, not using the cheap 1/10th scale plastic crawlers but the 1/5 scale billet made machines, They all need to be assembled and look quite hard to build. I'm considering selling one of my better 1/5th models to buy one of these Killer Krawlers: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RC4WD-Rock-Crawler-Killer-Krawler-LONG-Wheel-base_W0QQitemZ160387280358QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ToysGames_RadioControlled_JN?hash=item2557d3ade6 Little video at the end to show what they can do. JamieP
Im thinking about buying one of these Brushless revos, watch the video, looks fast. http://www.modelsport.co.uk/?CallFunction=ShowSpecification&ItemID=32872

It eats all the petrols and nitros for breakfast lunch and dinner! He gets about 15-20mins run time out of them so has a few sets, but I think he needed to pay about £100 a set. Still, people spend as much on their nitro truggys at the races and aren't as fast. Only problem now is finding tires that don't burst under full power! Aero-M
Only problem now is finding tires that don't burst under full power! ATS foam tyres are good for 100mph, Have to be used on a very smooth surface.

Did the model shop suggest the one way bearings? That normally gives you starting problems as well when they are knackered.
