Chris Wilson
There are 4 Uk / Euro spec turbos of a customers at Turbo Dynamics to build a good pair, and TD rang me to say one pair had ceramic impellers, one pair had steel. Now I have seen a LOT of 2JZ-GTE turbos in my time, and had a good few rebuilt, but this is only the second time for UK / Euro spec turbos with ceramic wheels. They are definitely UK / Euro as they are 4 stud onto the manifold unless VVTi ones are 4 stud, but from memory I don't think they are. Anyone? Pete Sharp's factory original UK car had these as well, I thought it a one off at the time.... Guest SupraGTE
Toyota have something called "running changes"...it is PITA as there is hardly no record for a normal living to find out what exacty is done . just an examples on running changes : navigation for Auris: first year and a half we installed navis and routed cables for speed and reverse behind dashbord, just like a suprise we started seeing that some vehicles started coming prewired:) just plug and play , even today we have hard to track which ones are prewired and not "running changes" can be material change, change of supplier, cost saving etc so in teori a part can be aluminium but be changed to some else material and a substitute Part number is made for it so f you order the old you recive the new. Branners
I think there was a discussion about 3 years ago about US turbos possibly having ceramic internals but being 4 stud pattern. Never got proved either way but it has been discussed before and finding the answer would be good. Are the internals actually the same size as j-spec or the UK spec? UK spec diameter wheels, but ceramic. Thanks John.
Branners
that must be interesting on spool. Smaller turbo and ceramic combined with the UK spec cams.
Homer
Chris, if possible can you get the casting numbers off the exducer housing? Interesting thread

Terminator
It would be interesting to see a dyno print of a stock car with these turbos. I wonder if these were an option item.
