far
I am attracted to the dual sim functionality of this phone as I have to currently carry 3 phones around with me! Its only £50 on ebay delivered too Mixed reviews on the web, some say the menu system sucks, others say its a great phone and you get what you pay for Any 'real world' comments? http://image.made-in-china.com/2f0j00FvUQWNcsShkA/Mini-3G-Mobile-Phone-KA08-.jpg http://www.yopool.com/images/mini-iPhone-4.jpg

Jake
I bought one just before xmas - just for a play to see what it was like. It was, perhaps unsurprisingly, utter rubbish. I threw it away after one day's use.

far
ok so have been looking at reviews and researching these just now - it appears that most peoples dissatisfaction is due to the fact that they end up buying a cheap chinese copy (not sayin Jake or Martini did, just what I have deduced from my research) The copies tend to have sh!te menu systems with functions missing all over the place... I would be interested to see where the battery terminals on the ones Jake or Martini had as you can tell fake and real from this. I've managed to find a UK supplier who offer these for £50 delivered with a 12 month warranty and the new 2010 firmware so will let you know whether I end up chucking it or keeping
supragold
OMG as if its an Iphone mini. They don't make one. Looks utter crap.

It's amazing that this can be sold for £50 new. I must say, it looks impressive - just in terms of a touch screen existence. The reason the iPhone is successful is down to years of R&D and getting a touch screen user interface that works. I guarantee that this will be fun for a little while but will most likely frustrate you. Anything with 2 SIM trays is a 'cheap, Chinese knock-off'. Remember that and you'll rarely be stung. But then at £50, it's almost worth it! ok so have been looking at reviews and researching these just now - it appears that most peoples dissatisfaction is due to the fact that they end up buying a cheap chinese copy (not sayin Jake or Martini did, just what I have deduced from my research) The copies tend to have sh!te menu systems with functions missing all over the place... There is no "original" phone - this is it. A copy of the iPhone! There are numerous ones. There are Wii copies, PSP copies, DS copies... you name it, China copied it. The KA08 is not really a copy - it's just based on the iPhone style, and smaller, so you can't really say it's a copy. I think the copies being talked about are copies of the KA08 itself! The mind boggles... copies of copies!

This phone and others mentioned in this thread are made by CEC Telecom Co Ltd a mobile phone manufacturer in its own right. Many chinese companies have copied the original KA08 with inferior software, functionality and build quality. Anyway at £50 I think I can take a gamble, if it pays off then great if not it will make a nice present for one of the younglings maybe this is why so many people have put up bad reviews

caseys
Is there a decent phone you can put two sims in? Orange a few years ago did a 'line 2' functionality on their phones, so you could have a 2nd tariff and a 2nd phone number and just hold down the hash key and it switched accounts. It was features like this that made Orange one of the last to market most handsets because they had to have little bits of bespoke firmware written for them. As for the KA08 a friend had something similar and was of the same opinion as Jake. Also going by China's H&S and history I would not like to think how brain-fryingly-friendly that handset is with radiation. Jeez this thread distracted me, I just folded a hand on pokerstars with two aces before the turn...

I used to have an 8210 on Orange - my first contract phone. I think it was free to have a line2 as well. Wow. Good times!
