As some of you know I've not had the best of times the last 3 months, losing my job, in hospital for illness etc etc.

Now at long last I've started to recover and things are getting better. I have my job back at my old place also BUT this is the annoying bit. After going in for my check up with the hospital it turns out I'm not aloud to work for atleast another week or 2!!!!!

Its all down to my bizarre problem with vision since I've come home.. Thing is I want to be back at work and basicly said to him I'm going back in monday like it or not...

Question is do I take the docs advice or just go back in?? Thoughts??

I think the medical professionals the majority of the time are thinking of your health chap :)

Does not going back to work hinder your job or cashflow at all? If not, stay at home and make sure you're at 100% and firing on all six cylinders. Don't go and stress/strain yourself and go back to square one with your back. Any joint or muscle or nerve issue always give it the full recoup time otherwise you'll probably be in for a world of long term hurt or £££ physio.

Enjoy the time off, do something productive like read/learn something. Or play MW2.

The amount of times doctors have told me this and that regarding my asthma, when it has been completely uneccessary is also nuts.

Doctors have to cover their backs too. Maybe you shouldn't go back to work, I have no idea what your illness is, and no one else can answer that question on here either.

Do what you need to do, you know your body better than anyone else.

True.. See thing is I've been out of work for 3 months and just when I return to work something hinders me.

Usualy in situations like this I throw advice out of the window and battle through but with my increased workload I'm set to face it might cause more damage than good.

I'm just unsure wtf to do as claiming benefits regardless of its my fault or not, is something I just hate doing! It physcialy degrades a person :(

the docs cover their own backs, if you go back and something goes wrong then they are not liable.

You may wish to speak to your HR department about reduced hours, tell them what the doctor has said and that you dont want to create a bad impression etc and are willing to work on a part time basis to aid your full recovery

Without knowing the nature of the illness and the nature of the work you do it is hard to offer advice however, given that your ex employer has offered you a job back I am sure he / she will be prepared to wait just a week or 2 more if you explained the situation.

What's wrong with your vision?

The key is to find out what mine means, and that will lead you towards finding out what IBTL stands for.

I understand that IBTL means "in before the lock" but what I don't understand is why it is posted in threads that can not be seen to be even remotely contentious and therefore in no danger of being locked.

Seen it a lot lately - maybe from the same poster :)

I think in this case it's referring to the spurious thread title? There was a 'thing' about that not so long ago :)

Martin, Speak to Vicki about it as she must know it inside out and backwards :)

There you go so the answer plane as day.

In the unlikely event that you get crushed by a car or fall off a ladder and injure yourself then there are next to no chances of you getting medical help and any form of compensation. Its not worth the risk for a week IMHO.

Just explain it to your boss and if he withdraws the offer of your employment back then sue him for unfair dismissal.
