optim8
Fast road compound Jap spec pads are 125 plus VAT a full car set. UK spec fast roads are 135 plus VAT a full car set. I currently can't find any more Performance Friction race pads for UK brakes, Wez had the last sets. My race compound pads for J-Spec brakes are 350 plus VAT a full car set. I sell and use AP 550 brake fluid, but if you want the ultimate I also sell Castrol SRF, but it's very expensive. Waste of money unless running full race pads, IMO. Cheers for the prices on the Pads Chris. I'll have to work out what to do. The Fast Road Jap Spec Pads are probably more in my price rang at the moment, but I don't want to skimp for the sake of it. Compared to the standard pads how much more effective are the FR Pads? Sounds like theses would be fine for the Track Day, but I'd need to be careful with them at the Ring. Is this about right? Appologies for all the questions :-)

HJM
As per others, have done loads of trackdays and visits to the Ring in my near stock auto TT and it has always been a joy to drive and 100% reliable. Go and enjoy.

CW said he used his in Manual mode, but when I've tried mine there's a bit of a delay while it changes up. If you do use the Manual mode can you drop down through the box and get the same sort of engine braking as a straight manual? Will it kill the box/engine if you change down too early or does it gear down when the revs/speed are correct for the gear? Sorry I haven't really played with my autobox much to date!!! Guest MrDave
Don't try and learn the Nurburgring from the Playstation or Xbox. It will make you cocky and none of them are very accurate. There used to be a BMW M ring guide floating about the net you could download and print off. Corner gears and so on were for a 6 speed M3 but if you disregard that its probably the best free way I know of to learn the 'ring.
Chris Wilson
How much loss of pressure if any do these cause Chris, I've never been a fan of oil coolers and most of the guys in the states don't bother even in pretty hot states. That's because they never drive hard enough for more than a 1/4 mile Correctly sized oil coolers should show negligible pressure loss, a pressure gain is more likely as the oil isn't stratospherically hot
Chris Wilson
EDIT chris for an NA with no abs, moderate driving, not pushing it hard, would fast roads be enough?? Maybe.... But who goes all the way to the `Ring to ponce about worrying about fading the pads ?

Sounds like theses would be fine for the Track Day, but I'd need to be careful with them at the Ring. Is this about right? Appologies for all the questions :-) They have more bite and quite a bit more fade resistance. Lots of people use them on track days, it depends entirely how you drive the thing, without being clever I'd have them on fire in two laps of Oulton, but if you are new to track days, or the track you are visiting, then you probably won't have an issue. With brakes I have to make cautious suggestions, naturally. They are a good compromise, usually silent, or easily silenced by using anti squeal shims, which I recommend you avaoid, and make no more dust than stock pads used similarly. Once you go to specialist race pads the makers have ZERO care about noise, dust and often price It's easy to spend over 800 quid on a full set of pads for a heavy car. bodilx6
Why do you reccomend avoiding anti squal shims?
Chris Wilson
They add a small amount of compressibility into the setup and usually give a noticeably less firm pedal. It doesn't help that I hate a spongey brake pedal to the point of paranoia
