Wez
Hey All, Does anyone have the EPC software installed that can show an exploded diagram of a NA auto and a TT auto diff?
Kirk
I can put it up in the morning if homer doesn't beat me to it? A bit woosey with the medication at the minute otherwise I would now

Homer
Lots of EPC options here mate, do you need the LSD or non-LSD diagrams? Hate the last version of EPC which is the only one that works on Win7, it's not easy to post these things in any detail
Homer
Here's what I could get, if you need more detail let me know. (Hover over the attachment to see the file description). Not convinced on these as the NA LSD and TT auto figures have the same number, though the part numbers are different
Wez
Thanks matey, the bit I am interested in is the propshaft mount, 41204, they come in different sizes for NA and TT, can we show this using part numbers and I wonder if just that part can be changed/swapped. If you can PM me with a chassis and model number for the NA I'll check it out. However the NA 5spd/ NA auto prop difference comes into question. What exactly and you fitting to what? I've completely lost track now

Homer
Sat on my garage floor is a diff from an NA auto, I am looking to fit this to my TT which currently has the larger diff fitted, code B03B Surely that's not possible? The larger diff casing can't suport the smaller diff. Crown wheel and ring gear are not compatible according to TMC specs... for a start
Wez
This is the diff I purchased http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=206979 Here is a thread about swapping them over http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=206416

David P
Edit: You will need to change the prop flange to suit the T.T. prop, and think you will need to fit the driveshafts that go with the small casing diff. Kirk
I am right in saying then wez your NA has the large TT diff currently fitted it and your just swapping to the smaller diff?

No My single has the large diff and i want to swap to smaller diff with different ratio ring/pinion which is only available on smaller diff I have a spare NA auto diff sitting here that I want to use. Kirk
Right I get you now I didn't know they actualy did diffs for the smaller casing... Interesting, giving me ideas now :eyebrows Be interesting to find out if the smaller diff casing can be adapted to suit the bigger prop. It sounds crazy BUT what about adapting the rear half of the smaller prop to the TT front? Either that or a nice 1 piece propshaft (expensive) with the correct flanges on each end maybe Saves messing with the diff case unless it can be modified easily Edited January 19, 2010 by Kirk (see edit history)
Wez
I have been told that I will need a passenger/near side drive shaft with ABS ring, a UK auto spec one will do. The prop flange should be fine as it was only changed on late model 6 speed NAs, the PCB of the four bolts to the flange should be 114.7mm, the late model 6 speed NA are about 1 1/2mm different. Chris Wilson
If you undo the prop flange nut you should really fit a new crush spacer and reset the bearing preload for the pinion bearing. There are workarounds, but not technically very "nice" ones....
