Nitro RC Cars

Hi, I found my old RC nitro car in the garage the otherday, It hasn't been used for about 3 years. Got a few problems with it, The car starts fine but cuts out really easy, To the point where I can't put it on the floor.

The wheels are always turning and never stop, Is this normal? It's really annoying.

The controller is the bit that really gets to me, It's abviously not set up right because it's always on throttle. I can adjust the throttle with the little slide switch on the side but then the car won't go full throttle with it all the way down. Is the slide thing supposed to act like a gear?

Any help would be great. The car is a Smartech 10/1 offroad car.

Cheers.

The cutting out is probably down to tuning - either too rich or too lean on the main needle. You want to have a bit of white smoke on idle with plenty at full throttle when you can get there.

If you still have issues you might find the clutch has seized.

With the throttle you probably want to re-set the position of the arm on the servo, undo the screw that holds the arm on and take the arm off the servo, center everything on the transmitter and let the servo move into position. then set the arm back on the servo so that it is at idle.

Wheels will always turn a small amount until it is put on the ground and then it is held there, this has always been the same for my cars. Also as said above the best tune is to have a small amount off smoke trailing from the car as its going around. You may find it needs a tune but if its been sat around for a while the carb is more than likely gunked up.
