On the way to my bros cafe yesterday (15 Mile Journey) I noticed that when the car was in D, N was also lit up but the car drove absolutly fine?!?!?!

When stopped at the lights I tried shifting out of D through to R but it wasn't having any of it as if I was driving over 10mph...

The N light also blicked in no real sequence...

 

When I got to my bros cafe I tried shifting up through to park but it was just stuck...So I pressed the red button and shifted through to R and P, when I shifted through R and P no other modes lit up and it moved freely between R and P?!

 

I later discovered that it also moves freely between 1-3 without any problems or other modes lighting up, so it's only D and N that light up when either one of them is engaged...

 

Eg. When in D, N comes on and randomly flashes...

When in N, D comes on and randomly flashes...

 

Once again it does not affect driving what-so-ever!!??

 

Any help would be much obliged... :D

Are you saying that you can not still shift between D to R?

An when you say it doesn't let you shift between D & R like when you are doing more than 10mph, are you saying that you shift to reverse while the car is moving? :blink:

 

If the drive is not effected & you can move through all the gears and drive them fine then don't worry to much about the problem if it is just the flicking lights on D & R. I'd reset the ECU (Not sure if you can maybe reset the gearbox ECU) then see how that goes.

When stopped I could not shift between D to R and it felt 'stuck' and there was a rumbling noise coming from it...

 

I could only move through the gears if I press the red button.

 

I drove it today and the problem didn't re-occur?

 

I'm confused now...:( lol

I used to have an FTO tiptronic with similar problems. If it comes back try resetting the ecu by disconnecting the battery overnight should do it. See how it goes.
