Silly question I know but...

As the title says, a silly question but I will fire it off anyway!

It's about the fan belt at the front of the engine - is this a one piece belt or it is two small belts together?

The reason I ask is I went to look at a Supra yesterday and the belt that I always believed was a one piece was split down the middle so that it was like two small belts together.

I always believed it was one piece but I looked at a 3ltr Soarer that has the same engine and it two had the two belts rather than the one piece I thought it was.

I do not have my old Supra to check myself but what is it - one big belt or two small ones?

While I'm at it - there was a little bit of oilly grunge (great description!) on either side of the engine block, near the top and under the y-pipe - I remember my own Supra had a very clean engine bay and there was nothing visible on it, but would it be a worry on a 14/15 year old engine. Engine itself appeared to be fine - ran quietly and smoothly with no issues on the test drive and passed an MOT(NCT for me)with no issues just a month ago.

And finally - not a question this time though. While the car had an aftermarket stereo system fitted to it, it was strangely enough fitted above what appeared to be the original radio/cd unit on the Supra which appeared to be single, rather than double din. I'd imagine that originally it would have had the little plastic pocket fitted in the place where the new radio is now.

Just thought it was interesting as I would imagine there are not many Supra's out this way still with them fitted.

Easy job, alot of the times the bolts that hold the cover down are so lose they can be turned by hand hence the crap thats both sides of the block.

Does this mean it would be a good idea to re-torque these every now and again to prevent it leaking simply because it's lose?

Was just thinking the same thing myself when I went looking for it again!

I thought I had posted it in Supra Chat - or maybe it is just because it is Sunday morning and I am not sure where I am!

Thanks again for the info!
