Kev.O
My PC has a DVI output which currently feeds my monitor, as well as an s-video output. However the picture on my pioneer TV whilst using the s-video output is terrible. The TV doesn't have a PC input but does have a HDMI input. So I've bought a DVI splitter, which gives me a DVI output for the monitor and a HDMI output for the TV (pioneer PDP-436SXE). However, since connecting everything up I can't get the picture on the TV to work. I've googled quite a bit and think I understand what's going on. The TV has HDCP support so I think this means my graphics card needs to be the same (please correct me if I'm wrong). Is there anyway of getting around this issue, if not can someone recommend me a graphics card suitable for my HP Pavilion Slimline s3340.uk PC please as I don't have a clue about computers
Ric
Your graphics card needs to also support HDCP yes However, HDCP is only usually required when viewing a HD source, such as Bluray as this creates a "link" if you like which enables the Copy protection (High Def Copy Protection/Digital copy protection) But i could be wrong, the TV may request HDCP to enable any link Usually the best way to achieve this is a DVI to HDMI cable, a splitter may knock out the HDCP Or, use a DVI to Componant cable, you will still get 720p with this, but without the Woes of HDCP
Kev.O
Ahh I see what you're saying. I've just spent about £35 on the splitter and leads, b*gger
Pot
Are you trying to run both screens at the same time? I've got no idea, but thought it could be an issue...
Ric
Are you trying to run both screens at the same time? I've got no idea, but thought it could be an issue... It just acts as a secondary monitor as long as its turned on in the display properties, it shouldnt be a problem
DamanC
Try a DVI -> HDMI Dongle

Yes that's the idea It just acts as a secondary monitor as long as its turned on in the display properties, it shouldnt be a problem How do I go about making sure I have this correct. I have a ATI graphics card, and it says monitor two is a generic non PnP monitor on ATI Radeon HD 2400, what ever that means Try a DVI -> HDMI Dongle What will I connect my monitor up to if I use this? Ric
What operating kev? The fact that the machine isn't seeing it as a HDMI TV or similar (Digital connection) shows that something is getting lost somewhere
Kev.O
It's Vista. The TV doesn't actually say anything about HDCP, it's just blank. I just looked up the TV spec on the internet and noticed it's HDCP supported. I might have gone off on a tangent . If I unplug the DVI cable, the TV still doesn't work. Willson
Try to get just the tv working with the pc first. Buy a dvi to hdmi cable off of ebay for about £5 delivered. Read the tv manual and see what it says about connecting a pc. You can download the manual from the manufacturer website if you don't have it. It might not say anything, but its worth looking. Willson
Hmm, I just downloaded the manual and there is a worrying quote on the hdmi page (51). "PC signals are out of correspondence." Googling for this brings up some other people with exactly the same issue as you. Have a look @ http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&source=hp&q=%22PC+signals+are+out+of+correspondence%22&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=%22PC+signals+are+out+of+correspondence%22&fp=3898def81deca7ef I would get a dvi to hdmi cable and try some different resolutions and refresh rates. Kev.O
Right, a little update on this. I managed to get a mate to bring his new laptop over with a HDMI output on it. The good news is that the TV works with a HDMI lead. So I'm presuming I'll need a new graphics card for the PC. Ideally one with a DVI and HDMI output. Can anyone recommend anything please? What do you use the pc for? as if your not into gaming then you dont need to spend the earth.
Kev.O
I don't use the PC for gaming. It's more for sitting on my sofa (4 metres from the screen) and being able to actually read the screen. At present it's pixelated and hard to read.
