It has probably got the worst of reviews as far as 2009 movies go but Gamer has to be one of the most visually stunning Bluray movies I have seen.

I won't go into any detail but basically the version I am watching is only 720p, as far as I am aware the actual bluray version is 1080p. Right from the get-go this movie, visually, is absolutely amazing. Only watched 10 mins so far, not looking forward to the rest plot wise.

Oooooo Q is in it!

The plot is alright, i enjoyed it and thought it was a good action film and the effects are stunning

Thanks to the reviews I have very very low expectations. It is far exceeding them so far. The idea is sound, the dialogue is the only thing in question at the moment.

Maybe be Visually good to watch but the movies itself, its Monkey Crap. :D

It's showing what my TV is really capable of. Not seen many movies that I have said "WOW" at. Correct that, not seen many movies the Wife has said "WOW" at..... it's THAT good lol.

How does it compare to something like "Beetlejuice" for example :) ?

Not seen beetlejuice on Bluray. I have a few bluray movies and I have watched a fair bit of HD content, as well as BR rips. This one is the only one to absolutely blow me away.

Saying that, I haven't seen Planet Earth on BR yet. That is supposed to be the BR highlight of last year.

I've seen gamer aswell it didnt really do it for me. As far as the full HD thing goes my tv says its on 1080i?? I take it thats a step down from 1080p is it? Or is that the blu ray set up mate.

1080i is a small stepdown from 720p as the picture is interlaced. Is your TV Full HD compatible? Might need the settings tweaked :)

It goes 568p, 1080i, 720p, 1080p.. at the moment.

The film started off not TOO bad, and got progressively worse. I reckon the film might have done well in the late 80's but not the naughties as we have seen it all before.

PS3 should switch your TV to 1080p unless set for a different resolution (which will most likely be the case). I can't remember exactly where the settings are to help you out, and the footie is on at the mo lol.

Let me know if you don't find it and I'll get the info up for you.

For me the best example of blue ray is Dark Night.

As the high action scenes are filmed in IMAX its absolutely stunning. Its full 1080P also.

Dark night is waht i use to showcase proper HD

Got that, and the IMAX scenes are excellent. Still nothing like what I saw last night though.

Really?? May have to get it to showcase it

I have planet earth and that again is stunning.

Yup, rubbish movie but fantastic visually.

I really want to see the Planet Earth blu-ray. The latest one is meant to be amazing. I have them on DVD and those alone are stunning.

i saw dark knight on my 1080p plasma last night and although im impressed i didnt think it was the best example i have seen for HD.

For me so far, its a toss up between Sincity (which i must say is stunning) and BBC's Planet earth which displays at 1080i. They look awesome.

My gripe so far is that my Blu-ray of BBC's Life series doesnt play in full HD it reverts down to 720, which is more than just buggin me currently.

Planet earth was recorded in 1080i, Life was recorded in 1080p.

Planet earth looks worlds better than Life:Pling:

That may be the settings on your player

My dads was set to automatic and was slecting 720 because of his tv, i then changed the settings on boththe tv and player and its all perfect now

well im running it via my ps3, and iv unselected all settings other than 1080p.

Iv even sent the bbc dvd team a email and simply got a, piece of crap, generic reply so it looks like this may go on in a bit.

I just dont understand as its newer.

My TV is a new 50inch full HD plasma so im a bit disappointed.
