Supragal
OK, I'm choosing the final colour for my car. The choice is between 2 types of purple. The base is the same but one has lots of normal size metallic flakes in it, one is the larger more sporadic metal flake. This is a tough call, I'm worried that the metal flake is really old hat now and a bit chavvy, but equally worried that I'll be selling the finished car short with a more understated paint. I'm adding a vote... please help me decide!
Alex
Can you please post example pictures? FWIW the car is already mad so you might as well go for the OTT paint too
tbourner
Yeah gotta be metalflake! Don't know what you mean about chav, I've only ever seen it on a Supra and a Model B rod at a custom show!!!
attilauk
i say normal metalic, the flake might detract away from the awesome lines of the car
Dale B
Metalflake is so 70's - 80's "Custom car" look. Pearls and Candy's is what you want.
Matt T
Never liked metal flake tbh. Anyone seen that skyline that was done in a silver flip metalflake? Looked gash it has to be said
Animal
My mate's just painted a set of GSX-R wheels in a hologram-flake; like very fine metalflake, but rainbow colours. It's a clear coat, so will go over anything. Seriously cool paint. Otherwise, I'd probably choose metallic as metalflake is just a bit too 70's (even for me), but it's hard to say without seeing samples. Supragal
Pictures of it are useless, it looks nothing like it in the flesh.
michael
I'll take the "neither" option too - a nice deep candy pearl would have my vote.
tbourner
Your car is WAY over the top (in a good way), it'd never be considered a chav mod if you metalflake it as it's obviously a show car anyway!! You can't go all half-hearted now you've come this far with it!!
Supragal
Too late it's getting sprayed tomorrow (if I decide!) plus candy purple? doesn't sound great!

Scoboblio
I think metallic. IMO metaflake is only for cars without strong lines that need to attract attention in other ways.
lust2luv
Metaflake looks completely gash IMHO! Never seen it look good on a car.
Supragal
I am worried about losing the lines... and about it looking like an 80's mirror ball
Scoboblio
Whenever I've seen a wideboy type kit they always look better with bold but unfussy paint.
Nic
doesn't actually show any colours does it? No it shows some cars in the gallery section but very difficult to see on screen. Try going HERE to find UK dealers, they'll probably have a book of colour swatches to chose from.
Supragal
Too late for that, it's already at a garage and they're waiting for me to choose so they can spray it!

supRo
I was going to buy a Supra (Guildford), black with flakes. It looked awesome, shame it had been 'abused'.
