mikeyb10supra
I am thinking about trying to move into business analysis in the near future and was wondering if anyone has done something similar from another role. I currently work in data analysis so technically I am very strong, ie with sql, spss, faststats, alterian, BI etc etc but have read that business analysis doesn't have that much of a technical focus? Any pointers from anyone that has made a similar move would be great Cheers Mikey
ozz
I'm currently moving from an IT manager role to a business analyst role (we call it business partner). Given the choice I wouldn't as I prefer dealing with technology to people but it will be a challenge. My new role will be a mixture of infrastructure responsibility, service delivery and business partnering. Learning Tree do some courses on business analysis which i'm signing up for - the first is an introduction for 3 days, the second focusses on producing documentation for requirements gathering. I'm having to catch up fast as I don't really have the experience for the role I've been moved to and they want me to cover all Europe not just UK. Fun times ahead! Mike
I thought we were trying to reduce bad language on this site
ozz
Worth adding, one of the reasons I'm not resisting this move is having the business analysis and technical skills makes you very marketable. I've been talking to an agency contact who places people with large companies and he has a number of clients who would be interested in my skillset once I've completed a project cycle.
