BigDino
Can anybody suggest a company that will do these? Double glazed but in Timber. Had Everest round but if there is a good local company or one that would travel to these parts, that somebody could suggest that would be great. I'm in the North of England Near Hull. Thanks in advance.
Rob
Googly..... http://www.heritagejoineryhull.co.uk/ Never used 'em though, so can't vouch for them. I once used a Roofing contractor in Scunthorpe, not particularly good but that's hardly relevant, I'm just intimating that all people from that area are useless. I got some sliding sash windows bespoke made from a company near Thirsk, and those...ahem people...ignored all my details and just installed a quadrant beaded frame instead of all my chamfered bars. Aero-M
To far for me to come unfortunately. I wouldn't use a Company like Everest or any other of the big companies, you will pay far to much for the same product a local company could offer for much less. I would just check the company is FENSA registered and also ask if they have a portfolio of completed works, also something to be aware of is the energy rating law is due to start soon, All windows are meant to be at least C rated, most will use B as standard with the option to upgrade to A. I'm able to buy my new frames which are B rated for the same price as the old windows I was using, The big companies are really playing on the energy rated side of things selling you a house load of energy rated windows for 3 to 4 times the price of normal windows. creative
any reason why wood? we had wooden ones taken out and had full 3 way upvc sash windows put in. price was the same wooden ones but we had rather tall windows so they were pricey. saved a fortune on heating bill tho! BigDino
Its an old cottage an want to retain the original look, the frame is going to be wooden but the windows still double glazed so best of both imo.

I work full time during the week, but have been doing windows/conservatories for the last 11 years before going into garage doors. I'm slowly trying to get up and running for my self so do all my work at the weekends, so wouldn't be cost effective for me to do them for you.
