stevie_b
.. well, nearly! When I took the digital speed converter off, the error code didn't appear at all. So I'm going to ditch the old DSC and buy one from Thor! Cheers for the helps guys!
Jspec Germany
Congrats Stevie! At least you have a plan. I have yet to pull the carpet and check the ECU, but the SLD from THOR is my next mod. After I inspect the wires at ECU, the next check will be at the odometer as I hear the solder joints are suspect with this indication. I'll do that when I put in the TRD speedo as I don't like taking the dash apart more than I have to. Hmm... possible dash/gauge fascia painting project too. I need to get the SLD ordered soon so I'll have the car delimited and light steering fixed for the SONID Denmark trip. Apexi 2nd decat pipe just showed up and just need to get the gasket material. Hope there's no issue with size/flange fitting to the Jspec first cat.
stevie_b
Good plan Jspec. Check the wires at the ECU. If nothing is loose or looks out-of-place or dodgy, move on to the odo. I assume you don't have a speed converter fitted. Good luck m8.
Jspec Germany
No Stevie, I'm in Germany and brought the car from Japan here when I moved (U.S. Military) so just kept it in Kms as that's what they use here.
Jspec Germany
Could a dead turbo timer be the cause? It acts like it has no power. I bet it's wired into the ECU and may be sending a fault or look like a short.
stevie_b
Unlikely, but I'm not sure, I don't have a turbo timer (don't even have any turbos! ). I would suggest disconnecting the turbo timer and see if the fault still occurs. Can you swap (just briefly) your odo for someone else's, to see if the odo soldering has gone bad? That's what I'll be doing in three weeks when I get back from the U.S. Can you swap (just briefly) your odo for someone else's, to see if the odo soldering has gone bad? Not an option as there isn't an MKIV anywhere near me, nor is there a shop that knows what to do with one.
