rosscod22
I have decided to look into doing a turbo conversion on my j-spec N/A auto. Has anybody had any experience in this before? I mainly want to know how much it is likely to cost and obviously where to look for getting reliable parts? and Are there any garages or workshops you would recommend to do the work? I'd appreciate any advice you could offer.
Geo
TBH mate, id be inclined to just buy a TT instead of going the N/A Turbo route. Or you could do a TT transplant instead.
Abz
From what I have gathered from people who have TT's, it costs roughly £10,000. This figure will be slightly more if you have a NA Auto as you will need TT engine and also manual conversion with a 6 Speed I believe to hold the power of the single (Unless it is a small single then a 5 Speed should be fine). Edit: Ops ignore the above unless you was thinking Single Turbo, when you said turbo conversion I was thinking single! Supranature
This question has been done to death, discussed at lemgth, then bisected the perpendicular, to come to the same conclusion.............. a money pit which will take ages to do properly, to get, at best, stock TT hp. There are a couple of mad money builds on supraforums, but the concensus on here is forget it. Best route is a TT conversion, done in a few days, with a TT autobox, around £2600 fitted and warranted. Probably not what you want to hear, but imo, the only sensible way of upping an NA's performance for relatively little outlay. What about selling, then buying a TT? InSvain
and don`t forget that a standard autobox can handle about 500bhp but with the right mods it can go much higher just check the BL upgrade
