my supra is missfiring from when you start it and ive changed the spark plugs

and the back 2 spark plugs were alot worse than the front 4. when i check the coils when the engine is running the front 4 are ok but the other 2 dont seem to make a difference.

ive also tried putting different coilpacks in as i have a couple spare and this does not cure the problem

any ideas anyone

cheers daz

the front 4 looked not too bad but the back 2 were more black and the piece at the end were slightly melted back a bit so there was more of a gap when it sparks if you know what i mean.

if the back 2 arnt making making a difference when unplugged then could there be a problem with the loom ? or if there are 6 clips in all, do they have some type of fuse for each 1. or each 2. cus its just the back 2 thats the problem. i cant see it being anything to do with pistons or anything like that bacause its just been rebuilt not long ago. i think its an electrical problem.

and the boost gauge is flickering all the time even on tickover if that helps

  • 2 weeks later...

Worrying thread..mine seems to have similar symptoms;

New plugs were fitted and that sorted the missfire for a couple of weeks then it came back. Have replaced a couple of bad looking connectors and swapped coilpacks around and it is the same cylinder with the missfire. I now have an engine warning light, how do I see what the fault code is?

Is there anything that would have caused a melted valve or piston?
