road conditions!

yep, our UK roads are very minimum spec.

There are no rules to stop contractor companies making maximum profit when they always choose minimum specifications for road construction. (On main highways)

And a lot of local council types on the county roads prefer to do a quick bodge repair on damaged roads instead of paying up to do a full repair. (But this comes down to the mis-management of tax funds meaning the councils do not allocate enough to road maintenance).

I remember driving through Germany and Austria on a skiing holiday through the mountains years ago, temperatures were constantly below freezing but the roads felt super silky smooth, an that's not just for a few hundred yards, thats for hundreds and hundreds of miles. I wish our country had roads like that. :(

Our roads are sh1t, 3" of tarmac then mud in most cases, every time we get snow we then have potholes, the snow freezes in the cracks and expands, cars drive over it and it breaks up, potholes everywhere round here.

:yeahthat:

Driving from Milton Keynes through Buckingham today, the road would be fine for a good while, then an almighty hole in the road which was impossible to miss, resulting in me and the car feeling it! Over and over again. Annoying.

Road tax eh... good to see it gets used on improving our roads...
