Jamesy
The bad news is instead if watching a nice new 50" to see the new year in were now looking at our 17" widescreen from upstairs.
jon5698
They are supposed to open the box and show you the screen before you leave the store mate, so things like this don't happen. Hope they give you a new one mate.

jon5698
Yeah they normally open the box in the store so you can check the tv is ok, or at least they have everytime i have bought a new tv, and that is currys i bought them from. Pixelfill
was it an LG from Currys ? Our local Currys had a stack of LG plasmas with at least 4 laid flat on top !!! You might have case if your store is similar. "It must have been broken due to the way you were displaying them" or if a member of staff helped you load the car and didn't point out any problems. If not I think you are in for quite a battle, and I don't rate your chances! Mike
Jamesy
I dont get the problem personally. Maybe im missing the point. They didnt show me the screen. The bloke loaded it into my car. Just said better if it were totally upright but drive slow. Get home - ita fu(ked. Was just thinking they'd return it to samsung and give me a new one and show me the screen before leaving. JustGav
Check the box for damage, as I fear that may be your only route. Something tells me they will kick and scream that it is your fault for the damage.
jevansio
The worrying thing for me is these "large TVs" have been out for years now, & the shops will have every trick in the book played on them. They will be prepared for this sort of thing (esp against customer transport), and I don't think an "It was broken when we opened the box" excuse will wash here

jevansio
Also, what have you signed? Whatever the shop guy says to you is nothing compared to any small print you signed in the shop
JustGav
The box looks fine mate ... I'd get prepared to having to claim on the house insurance, although would they complain because it 'might not' have happened in the premises? tooquicktostop
I went in yesterday to buy this TV, ended up buying the LG 50" on offer (£699) as it had a faster refresh rate, however I paid the 19.99 for the "follow you home" deal, it was at my house in 1 hour, good service They did try to leave without opening the box and wanted me to sign "delivered unopened", I told them I wanted to see it open with them there so they could remove if damaged I hope it works out for you, I am very happy with the LG if you fancy taking it back and paying the extra £100 for the upgrade
