miko_supra
Earlier in the week when the weather was really bad I was in a horrible situation where my car started to slide approaching a busy a junction in my 2002 fiat stilo. So I applied the brakes, only to find that I suddenly had none! I eventually stopped the car on the handbrake and crawled the last 100 yards home that was left to go. Today I have managed to get around to finding out what went wrong and it appears that the drivers front brake hose has stripped the thread in the caliper and broken free!! Has anyone ever experienced or heard of this happening before?

Abz
ferrari, mazzerati, previously lamborghini ? Do you want to see a photo of a few of us guys parked overnight on a journey to find both the Ferrari F430 & Lamborgini Gallardo not starting up due to battery issues & the bentley GTC working fine even though we watched DVD's and made calls all night! absz
Have seen this on some cars were the pipes/unions have been overtightened at some point. but saying that never experenced total brake failure as all cars are now dual braking so the rear brakes would have still worked even if the pedal was going to the floor. adnanshah247
on a serious note, could it be the wrong brake fluid? erm cant really think what would kill the brakes on that car, its not exactly old old. whats the mileage on it? Abz
yes please As promised... The Bentley GTC was fine but both the Gallardo & F430 both wouldn't start. We just drove 200 miles and decided to rest for 4 hours before continuing. The Ferrari has such a rubbish stereo as well! At least the Gallardo had a full screen with reverse camera. Bentley GTC was fine, we watched a movie while resting. Apologises for the small hi-jack, though strange how the brakes failed. Luckily you knew how to use the handbrake! Imagine if you were doing 70mph and that happened, would have been pretty nasty! When was the last MOT?
AndyT
your the one trying to get at the front of the shot i take it You drove 200 miles and needed a 4 hour break. Mind you, I think I'd drag things out if I had the chance to go driving those cars. As for the Stilo. Must be overtightened, I wouldn't thought pressure in the pipes alone would be able to strip the connection. Lucky you though.

Well was supposed to be a 1-2hr stop to let the cars cool down Though I was getting quite into Debbie Does Dallas while the massage seats were doing their thing
