I have the older model of that unit and it is superb for its price range.

 

Only thing to watch out for with a plasma is their power consumption. Then again, if you arent going to be using it that much then the difference wont be that dramatic.

Went for the LG 50" Plasma from Curry's, it was £100 more than the Samsung but has a 600HZ refresh rate instead of 100 and was discounted by over £100, its on the wall now and looks great :)

 

father in law just bought that one, i set it up and it looks a great tv for the money :)

 

just remember to turn all the settings down to run it in for around 100 hours ;)

I was lead to believe if you want 42"+ it's got to be plasma,

and they're supposed to last approx 11.4 years with continuous use.

 

i have also heard that a few times...
