michael
Santa brought me an Xbox, as a result I want a 1080p TV so that I can stick it upstairs. I don't want anything massive, 23" > 26" should be fine, looking to spend about £250 or so, ideally on something with freeview built in and a couple of HDMI sockets. My initial searching has located the Samsung 2333HD but it's listed as a "monitor" rather than a TV... http://www.samsung.com/ph/consumer/monitor-peripherals-printer/monitor/lcd-monitor/LS23CFUKFV/ZA/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail Dixons list this for £199 posted which seems quite reasonable, reviews seem positive other than a few complaints about the sound quality. Am I missing anything in the spec that makes this unsuitable for occasional TV viewing and XBox use? Should I consider any others around this budget? Sorry for the noob questions but I'm still watching a CRT as my main set so I haven't really taken much notice of this kind of thing for a while. scotty71
Yes that will be fine for xbox and TV viewing needs plus you can use it as a PC monitor. Not a bad price that...... As for the sound yes its only 3W x 2CH but as it is a PC monitor people usually upgrade to externals anyway or 5.1 Scotty

It seemed a bit too good to be true, hence my questions.
Scott
Quite confusing Not really sure whether that has a tuner on it or not. It certainly mentions it a few times but is very vague as to whether it is a plug in tuner or a built in one. Samsung are certainly good quality panels so you can't go far wrong on that front. I'll have a quick browse. If that one has a built in Tuner though I think it will be hard to beat. Edit: 1080p is useless at that sort of size. Just in case you want to open up your options. It is pretty much useless until 50". Your contrast ratio and refresh rate are far more important. Edit: Edit: Had a look on Comet and it states that the TV mentioned has a built in DTV tuner. Win win!
caseys
I think they just call it a monitor to stop people asking if it can be connected to a computer Looks just like a samsung monitor a friend has but just with a built in tuner the 2333sw is the same but without the dvt tuner by the looks of it. Think the 2333hd has a glossy screen though from what i've read which means it'd reflect things with sunlight or a light on in the room which to me is very annoying for gaming. Scott
http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/577111/SAMSUNG-P2370HDBL I would be more likely to spend the extra pennies on that one. It seems a bit more modern and up to date model. I also saw a Hitachi one which had a built in DVD player and seemed to tick all the boxes. It was only 720p though, which I think makes no difference, and it seemed a little less techy so I wasn't sure about it. http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/568902/HITACHI-22LD5750U For your consideration anyway. caseys
Did you buy anything in the end? Samsung's P2370HD looks pretty good too, admittedly another £65 though. http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2009/12/08/review_hd_tv_monitor_samsung_p2370hd/
