V
My mates got a chipped Xbox, but having difficulty seeing it from his PC. He's typed the following if any one can help. Many thanks: I have a crossover cable connected to my pc from the xbox and have changed all relevant IP address's Windows XP recognises that something is attached by the small computer symbol in the task bar. (when the xbox is switched off a symbol states that it could be unplugged) the trouble i am having is finding the xbox hard drive under windows so I can FTP the files to my computer Any ideas where i would find this as it is not under "my network" or "my computer". I have downloaded various FTP client programmes like smart ftp and flash fxp and cannot locate the xbox hard drive. Maybe I am not using these programmes correctly or something is not right. Xbox is chipped and has slayer 2.6 installed.
JamesG
The xbox needs to be running a program that has an ftp server. I haven't used Slayer (I thought it was just something that sets up the hard disc), but most of the dashboards available have an ftp server that can be configured. I use Avalaunch which is easy to set up and then I connect with FlashFXP. Standard rules apply in terms of setting ip addresses. I find it easiest to use static IPs. e.g. set xbox to something like 192.168.1.201 and PC network adapter to 192.168.1.202. James.
paulfurn
Also make sure that in EvoX dash settings are: Setup Network YES Use Static YES I think by default it uses DHCP so the "Use Static" option is NO by default. Make sure the gateway IP is the IP address of the NIC that the crossover cable is connected to. e.g. 192.168.1.100 PC NIC Address 192.168.1.104 xbox IP address (Configured in evox settings) Make sure theyre on the same subnet too:- 255.255.255.0 Gateway IP address in evox therefore would be 192.168.1.100. Once done try and FlashFXP to 192.168.1.104. If this doesnt work, then it may be you have a corrupted dash. My Evox did the same as well. To test this you need to boot into Xbox Media Center or another dash with FTP, configure the network addresses in it, remember to save, and try to FTP in. Im using UnleashX as my dashboard at the moment, though there are loads of impressive ones about now! Let us know how you get on!
wez_p
assuming it hasn't changed, the login details to connect to the xbox via FTP will be username: xbox, password: xbox then you should be able to see the xbox hard drive(s)/partitions through the FTP client
