CardiffSupra
Hey guys, happy xmas to all. I've just got a Sky+ box for Christmas, We got it off Ebay. Sky won't let me use any of the Sky+ options. What the hell do I do to get it working? Cheers.

Guest MoeBlunt
its not wrong!! you purchased it from someone rather than directly from them...like you would do if you bought it from currys!!

RiceRocket
Have you got 2 signal inputs from the dish?
ozz
My ebay sky+ box just turned up, plugged in and working straight away without the need for pairing. I guess the risk is it will stop working after a while and need pairing but seems fine. Recording didn't work so I phoned sky, told them I had a box off ebay and they added sky plus to my account free of charge. I did have to extend my contract for 12 months which isn't an issue. I only have 1 feed which is fine for now, to get the most from it you need the second feed which I'll do at some point.
leelbuk
If you want to record one channel and watch another or record 2 channels simultaneously you'll need the two feeds. I believe that you need to swap the LNB on the dish for a dual LNB though.

ozz
I did read about that, wasn't clear until now - thanks!
leelbuk
Just had a look and you can get quad LNB's ready for the future Although there has been a time or two when there has been more than two programmes on at once that I want to record, there's so much crap on these days I hardly see the need to record 4 at once! Must be for families who just cannot stop fighting over the Sky remote! I know some can get ruthless!
Rob
There are very few things these days that qualify as proper, bona-fide life-improving inventions, certainly none by inventor-cum-tosswipe James "toss-wipe" Dyson, but the Sky+ live TV features very much qualify. It's brilliant being able to pause telly while you make breakfast, so you can watch the weather or be able to skip annoying ad breaks. Even getting a DVD film now seems cumbersome compared to just selecting a film recorded over christmas. Once our terrrestrial telly is taken away, I'll be getting a digi-box HDD too, so we can record 4 things at once. To the OP, get that second cable fitted, you'll be amazed. aman00123
So does this mean that if i buy a HD box from eBay i can get free HD subscription?

There's an Octo one too I think, probably for the flats. Main advantage of quad LNB is two Sky+ boxes. So does this mean that if i buy a HD box from eBay i can get free HD subscription? No, you'll just have more storage space and maybe the newer EPG.
