Ric
to easy compared to MW2 are you joking? Since when in MW2 do you have to count for bullet drop and flight time? MW2 is a console arcade shite, its a shame BFBC2 has some of those qualitys now also, i think its going to be more common with developers going for the console brigade
trinitom
are you joking? Since when in MW2 do you have to count for bullet drop and flight time? MW2 is a console arcade $#@!e, its a shame BFBC2 has some of those qualitys now also, i think its going to be more common with developers going for the console brigade and since when you can kill someone at that distance on MW2 with a sniper? and even a chooper with a single bullet!! Bobbeh
Its a big "looking forward to" in the PC community. I got it for the PC, MW2 is annoying on a controller. I've played BF games for years, moved away from Quake and Counter strike to BF, they're brill.
Ric
and since when you can kill someone at that distance on MW2 with a sniper? and even a chooper with a single bullet!! It was a UAV on the video, not a chopper, they are weak (it takes 2 shots) (learn the game before slating?) Not to mention that if you are a good sniper you can shoot the pilot out of the chopper, either way the chopper goes down As for distance? what? you can make sniper shots a mile or more in RL (which im sure isnt the distance in game) On a separate note, is anybody having issues with the blatantly untested server browser, it never works for me
edge
Battlefield has always been quite good. Was a cod fan but not anymore. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcZ3wXF3r14 Oh does anyone know if its got dedicated servers as they said it would? TopgunTT
I just think it is a fantastic game and there is nothing out there even close to it at the moment, Just my thoughts.
supra joe
and since when you can kill someone at that distance on MW2 with a sniper? and even a chooper with a single bullet!! actually you can snipe the helicopter pilot whilst he's flying slow. Angarak
So is there a LAN game? Offline mode? Community-made content like maps, skins, vehicles, even mods? Bots? Co-op? Any of that..? If it ticks some of those boxes I'll be interested but if it's just online deathmatch against american ADHD kids I'll give it a miss. No to all of the above. Since EA/DICE have decided not to release the dedicated server files as a means of fighting people running cracked servers customised to give you all the unlocks upon joining it (MW2 anyone?) it is not possible to host a LAN game. You can however rent a BC2 server from one of many GSPs and play with your friends through that. There is no co-op in the single player, you can however create squads of 4 in MP. Spawn camping isnt an issue since nearly everything piece of cover (bar huge rocks) can be chipped away at or completely destroyed. Having no prone isnt an issue, if you could go prone it would just become a sniper fest with every man and his guille suit camping it out in the trees. The game isnt a realistic milsim, so there is no need to go prone to improve accuracy, crouching behind cover (ie: rock) is enough IMO. I've not had an issue with buggy controls, some people report their uber l33t mouse with super duper resolution doesnt move quickly enough, or in some cases moves too slowly. The server browser is a little buggy at present, DICE have confirmed they are looking into it.
Ian C
No to all of the above. Ah, so as I suspected, it's a rather crap and limited console game ported over then Limited scope, lifetime, features etc, just the usual sugar rush with shiny graphics and some unlocks to make it last past a week. Oh how I lament the passing of proper games. Still, Supreme Commander 2 turned up yesterday
Supradoopa
I'm playing this now on the xbox, so far the playability is nothing compared to codmw2. As Micheal said no prone There seems to be about 40% gameplay, 60% watching the videos. Playing on hard at the minute which feels like the easy level on cod. At this rate I'll have finished it by
DamanC
Still, Supreme Commander 2 turned up yesterday TA Fan? Felt slightly let down by SC? Then you are going to utterly hate SC2 Massive let down imo. BBC2 is good, and worth the punt. Forget the SP its all about MP as all these games are. Those pre pubescent kids have all gone and brought consoles now, no need to worry about them. You cant really spawn camp/stat pad in this one either. To snipe you have to actually be quite good - bullet drop and flight time see to that Whilst not having prone is annoying, prone hopping as well as camping has gone. The video posted is the failsole version, on the PC its very different. You will like it.
Ric
Annoying bugs which are still from the Beta. Helicopter and the UAV are inverted controls, IE one is different to the other, major PITA the enterkey is still bound for the squad screen, and thats my jump Key, so every time i jump i get the squad screen, ANNOYING
Rob
In that sniper vid, the enemy are lit up with little triangles, he was sniping guys that were invisible to him through smoke or foliage. That doesn't happen in BF2, you just have to aim for the head as best you can.

That doesn't happen in BF2, you just have to aim for the head as best you can. The triangles only appear if your team "spots" the enemys by pushing a button while looking at them, if they don't do that, the triangles arnt there Its usually the recons class job to spot long range enemys

Thorin
I played the BC1 demo, and enjoyed it. I liked the humour of the single player game and really enjoyed the gold rush multiplayer... but I didn't buy it. Played the BC2 demo recently and it's certainly moved on again and was enjoyable... but the humour seems to have gone, they're no longer some backwater hicks in some second class company. I am itching to get a decent first person shooter though but ultimately, most people I know have MW2, so it'll probably be that. Mistake? Septic
and since when you can kill someone at that distance on MW2 with a sniper? and even a chooper with a single bullet!! I can snipe on MW2 long and close range! Also you don't get thermal scopes in BF. There is no bullet retardation. And that chopper was merely a manned- UAV. I am lethal at sniping on MW2 but with BF, I reckon I'll struggle. TO be honest I'll probably end up playing CODMW2 a lot more than BF but I like many aspects of the latter game. Which part was in the Demo? theres the opening scene which doesn't follow the four from bad company, set in WW2, so perhaps if that was the demo, thats why there was no Humor However the rest of the single player i found quite amusing

MattP
Excellent game just not quite as refined as cod2 but a good effort on a small budget
Angarak
Answered my own question, yes they do have dedicated servers. How are people getting on with this on the pc? The launch has been slightly marred by the underestimation on EA's behalf of how many people would purchase their game. The EA Master Servers (that you must logon to for MP) have crashed under the strain several times. They are however quickly installing new hardware and have also release 2 new server revisions since launch (we're now on R6). The latest revision should improve connectivity and reduce/eliminate some punkbuster problems that have popped up recently. Im loving the game, having several mates on the same server in the same squad communicating via TeamSpeak makes it really enjoyable, though it is still enjoyable if your on your own. It does need a decent PC for good performance, this is mainly due to the game using software-based sound emulation instead on relying on dedicated sound-card-based hardware. This increases CPU usage which ultimately costs some performance in terms of FPS. Dont bother getting the game if you dont have a dual core CPU or better. Aside from the intermittent MP connectivity, this games IMO is miles more enjoyable than Modern Warfail 2. Another nice touch is that several of the DICE dev team are active on the forums and communicate regularly with the community, they actually care about their game unlike other FPS devs of late.
