Abbreviations you'll see being used on this board

New alphabetical version (posted 02 Sept) if a Mod wants to delete all the guff and just leave this post.

 

Newer version posted 07 Sept with common interweb terms removed - it's now purely a Supra abbreviation guide

AFR - Air Fuel Ratio

BHP - Brake horse power

BOV - Blow-off valve

BPU - Basic performance upgrade

DAT/File - RLTC settings file

EBC - Electronic Boost Controller

EBV - Exhaust Bypass Valve

ECU - Electronic Control Unit

EGCV - Exhaust Gas Control Valve

EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculation

EGT - Exhaust Gas Temp

EMS - Engine Management System

EPC - Electronic Parts Catalogue

EWG - External Waste gate

ETTC - Electronic True Twin Conversion

FCD - fuel cut defender

FMIC - Front mount intercooler

FPR - Fuel Pressure Regulator

HIDS - High intensity discharge lighting

IACV - Idle Air Control Valve

IC - Intercooler

Import - The Japanese import version of the Supra

Jap spec - The Japanese import version of the Supra

JDM - Japanese domestic market

J-Spec - The Japanese import version of the Supra

Lepton - undefined (for legal purposes) numeric value for measuring speed, as in 'I was doing 45 leptons in a 30mph limit'

LSD - Limited Slip Differential

MAF meter - Mass Air Flow meter

MAP sensor - Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor

MAT sensor - Manifold Air Temperature sensor

MOD - Modification of car from standard

N/A - Normally Aspirated

NA - Normally Aspirated

NA-T - single-turbo'd NA engine.

RLTC - Racelogic Traction Control

RWHP - Rear wheel horse power

Single - Removing both stock turbos and fitting one big turbo instead (not really an abbreviation but useful to know)

SLD - Speed limit defender

SLD - Speed limit defenser

SMIC - Side-mount intercooler

STTS - Sequential Twin-Turbo Setup

Targa - Incorrect and just plain wrong misnaming of the Aerotop version

TC - Traction control

TPS - Throttle Postition Sensor

TRAC/File - RLTC settings file

TT - Twin Turbo

TT6 - Twin Turbo, 6 Speed manual

TTC - True Twin Conversion

TVD - Torsional Vibration Damper (a.k.a. front crank pulley)

UK - The UK version of the Supra

VVTi - Variable Valve Timing intelligent

WI - Water Injection

Up to you really Dave, you're the Mod. Thing is, there's eleventy zillion internet abbreviations and plenty of other sites that already cater for translating them.

We could list them all but it seems a bit redundant to me. Your call though mate, I don't mind either way.
