caseys
Well Dorset is now literally cut off from hampshire and anyone trying to get in from Southampton/London way is basically cut off. Looking at traffic reports all A-roads - A31, A33, A338, A35, A349 are all closed due to accidents because of ice. M27 westbound into Dorset is shut between J1-J4 due to accidents because it's basically a 12 mile long ice rink. Dorset is literally cut off from the rest of the UK right now Christchurch and Bournemouth basically have no roads out. Even though the gritters were out at 6pm last night. I think I'm gonna head down the beach to put up some barbed wire so we can keep people from invading/escaping. Though I admit I haven't yet left my bed this morning bar for the loo. Hurray for working from home! Anyone else found yet more carnage on the roads?
Ric
my little drift pit, IE the asda in hull is fairly carnage free (at 6am) it wont be when the zombie drivers who cant drive get there
Angarak
Its not cut off because of ice, its cut off because of idiots who dont know how to drive in icy conditions. There are some numptys driving around here like there is no ice on the road at all!

There are some numptys driving around here like there is no ice on the road at all! Oh I agree. But without the ice this wouldn't be happening. So ice really is the cause, stupid drivers crashing is the effect. Must admit last night there were complete nutters driving around here. People still doing 40-50 in 30mph zones and taking roundabouts and corners very quickly and cutting into lanes in what I considered were people's braking distances. dukenukem
It was ice most of the way to work at 7:30 this morning. I saw a Mitsubishi Warrior in front of me go side ways round a bend at about 10mph on an empty back road, then I hit the same patch and did the same thing! (not in the Supe tho). Also saw a Ford KA spinning on a roundabout before crashing head-on into a Golf. No point using the brakes it just makes it worse.
Ewen
Not good indeed. Cant get out of my drive even....one rear wheels off the drive and onto the grass. Stuck with the bonnet poking out through the gate. Cant go fwds or backwards, every time I try it moves sideways closer to the gate post. I'll try some carpet when Ive warmed up a bit. The road outside is just sheet ice and its a hill up out onto the main road. Post vans hit the neighbours car, daughters stuffed hers into the hedge. Half the office didnt make it in, two guys are actually on the M27 right now. Another lad stuck on the Wessex way I think.
AndrewOW
I can only be very appreciative of the very mild rainy conditions in Eastbourne today, as it's not bad at all so far. I had the same problem as you, Ewen, on monday morning, except I was out the drive, but sticking out into the main road, slowly drifting sideways instead of the usual! Wessex way shut as there were 10 accidents between 7am-8am, one involving a coach Not got rock salt? Or an extention lead and a hairdryer and defrost your driveway
keancy
Ice, Ice, Ice all over Cornwall too. Listening to the Radio all morning and they reporting Accident over Accident. I am supposed to go 6 miles to the Bank in my Lunch Break in a minute but I am dreading taking the Supra out as we Work on a steep Hill and it has now started to piss down
Ewen
Back on the drive now, wifes not to happy as I used a rug. Never liked it anyway. Raining now, road outside not so bad now.
RiceRocket
Its not cut off because of ice, its cut off because of idiots who dont know how to drive in icy conditions. What's more of a problem is our cars are not fitted with winter/snow tyres so even advanced drivers are going to struggle with icy roads in ill-equipped cars.
