I go for a bit of old-school rock or some melodic metal when it's time to chill out ... for example: -

Wind Of Change - Scorpions

n4RjJKxsamQ

Staind - It's Been a While

wVC1iBVnKJk

Nightwish - The Islander

x2sd8UMUaIk

Placebo - Running up that Hill

p5wota5vQCU

Even better ... for people that use Spotify ... HERE is my shared & collaborative Playlist "80's Playlist of Eternal Win" - . Whisk yourselves back to the 80's for some proper chillout :D

Cheers, J

In a different vein to a lot of the others in this thread, but Radiohead's Pyramid Song is very attention-grabbing, haunting and slightly morose (in a good way: I can't describe it any better than that) for me. I love the way the beat changes during the song, it's not an easy listen when you first hear it. :)

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

Excellent.

I really look for that in a song - something that isn't an easy listen first time around. It's usually those that turn out to be the keepers - something that hits that sweet spot between 'My God, this is a racket' and 'I think I like this'.

That time signature on the Pyramid Song has got me scratching my head. Their 7/8 section in 'Paranoid Android' that rocks my world.

I am utterly amazed that there's not ONE piece of classical music mentioned.

I was just adding...

Debussy - Clare De Lune

Love listening to it and playing it

There's nothing more relaxing than sitting by the piano at dusk, tumbler of whiskey and water and the ivories to be honest... I wish I wasn't so thoughtful of my neighbours as I'd love to right now but my celeste pedal is broken :(
