Justin
Does anyone know of any know causes/problems with the speed deliliter? Today a Porsche came steaming up behind me in the out side lane so I obliged of course and went steaming after him but when I got to 'a certain speed' it cut out. I let off the throttle and got back up to the same speed and it did it again! About an hour later on my return journey I tried the same speed again and it didn't cut in this time? Seems to happen at lower revs ie when I'm accelerating gradually and not using kick down. Could it be that the delimiter doesn't work in 4th gear? Please help if you know anything. In the meantime I'll have to take the dash out and check the wires AGAIN! BTW where is the little unit located? Cheers
Matt Harwood
Strange... This seems to be happening a lot lately... Happened to me about 3 weks ago. It's been alright since. It's usually fitted behind the dash. I took mine apart and checked the connections. Removed the supplies and tested.. Been alright since... Or maybe I've just not been at that sort of speed since
MONKEYmark
i was booting it up this slight hill other day it is cold on a morning and it feels like fuel cut ? the car shifts and seems faster, wondering if its second limit on trl fuel cut.thats only when driving hard if i build speed up slow it feels ok and dont do it.is it time for a upgraded ecu and get rid of piggy back electronics? sounds same thing as me? hitting 1.4bar with cw cats,no boost controler on j-spec might neet to order a restrictor plate or get fueling checked in case its not getting enough.and try get egt`s down
eyefi
justin, mine's located down in the footwell with the ecu. mark, sounds like yr hitting the raised fuel cut, too much boost mate.
Justin
I don't think it is my fuel cut defenser as I regularly get above stock 14 psi and it doesn't cut in. As I say it seems to be when I hold the throttle at a constant level and just ease the acceleration up gradually. When it does happen it tends to be at the same speed so I think this rules out the FCD. Difficult to troobleshoot as the speed needed is 'quite high'. I don't think saying "well officer I think my speed delimiter is faulty so I was just testing it" would go down too well:D Any more ideas folks?? PS. Fcuk I hate Monday's! Terminator
Justin I think what eyefi is saying, is that you may have hit the raised cut. If you have on of the TRL units, there is a new cut level which should be around 18 psi and is ajustable, you may have encountered this higher cut. I suggest you see if you can reproduce the effect and note the boost, then talk to Pete.
Druid
Slightly OT, but I've seen a number of posts about restrictor plates and the likes, and there's something about 'em that I still don't understand fully... aren't boost controllers able to do the job a restrictor plate does, e.g. keep the boost down to a certain level? Terminator
Not significantly on a Jap spec with not cats, UK cars have a different system, EGR, so decat does not raise boost much, and that’s where you need the controller.IMO On a free flowing system like Matt's hitting 1.5 bar, even Leon could only get a .2bar reduction with a controller.
