What about the last Samurai.

Basically most films are cliche riddled. The fact of the matter was it was enjoyable, I don't thinknit ever intended to win awards for it's plot or lack there of. Instead it was meant to be a visual masterpiece.

Yep, you're right.

There will probably become a day when every film has a lot of elements from previous released films.

And then everyone will be bored of every storyline.

A bit like music in a way...there comes a point where everything released is a re-work on something that has already been done.

There is one on the south coast - Bournemouth! ;) But yes, I agree, there needs to be more around.

Which unfortunately closed back in Feb '05. :(

What's Avatar like in 3D in a normal cinema? Do you have to wear stupid glasses and do they fit over normal specs?

My girlfriend took a hilarious picture of me at the cinema watching Avatar in 3D.

I looked like Tim, nice but dim.

I was so immersed in the film thanks to the 3D i totally forgot I was out in public and fell into a primevil trance pointing at the fire embers and snow flakes whilst making odd Ohh'ing and groaning sounds.

The 3D adds something, but takes away resolution and colour (imo)... but probably worth seeing in cinemas while it's in this format. Bluray will suffice for a home viewing I would imagine.

I think the glasses would fit over normal glasses :)

I did that :D I don't think I closed my mouth for the first two hours

I would liken it to that seminal moment when you first saw Jurassic Park in the cinema and thought the dinosaurs were real :)

In short, it's effing amazing.

IMAX Bradford certainly has no legroom though.

I found it fine last time we went - which was to see 'fly me to the moon' about flies going to the moon. Not a very good film for me as I have a slight phobia of flies and subsequently spent some of the film try to bat away flies around my face. :D

Wow, I had no idea!

Yep - they're definitely ok with normal glasses underneath.

just seen this in 3d over here.

The plot wasnt amazing... but the visuals were something else! I've never been and seen a 3d film before so didnt know what to expect but after getting use to the 3d'ness and trying not to focus on the out of focus bits... lol... it was so immersive!

What he said.

We went with low expectations and were pleasantly surprised. Yes, the plot is average sci-fi fare but it's executed so well that you just get swept along with it.

The 3D was really good although they've a looong way to go to make it seem natural. IRL you just don't see layers of 3D but maybe the technique added to the hyper-reality of the visuals.

I loved the floating mountains. They've been a 'thing' of mine since I was a kid. The military hardware was very well done too.

Well worth a watch in a cinema. I think it'll look rubbish at home even on a big TV with Blu-Ray.
