Saw this Sunday in 3D - visually amazing and deserves to be seen for what they put on the screen. Would not waste my time with the 2D version.

As for the storyline - hmmmmm.

I take it as James Cameron re-visualises the end of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi but instead of little cute bears and Stormtroopers, he uses tall blue aliens and Marines.

Also sprinkled with liberal doses of Dances with Wolves and The Last of the Mohicans.

Got bored of it all by the end but would still say go see the eye candy.

Sounds like a good review. Thanks :)

Forget about his future films - I would love to see one of his past films re-done in 3D - Aliens.

"They're coming out of the F'in walls man"!

That would be some experience.

Went to see it yesterday (3D) and was positively surprised as I had that exact thought too. But it does shine through too much

I really fancy seeing it, but a small bit of me is cringing in anticipation that this might have a Titanic style sub-plot that will irritate me and ruin it.

Saw Avatar last night, only the 2D version, but was still amazed at the visuals, and also a great story too! The best film I've seen for a while! Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend going to see it! I want to see it in 3D next!

Agree with the above 100%. What an amazing movie.

Found the following comment on a user review website:

"I agree somewhat with a previous comment, describing concerns regarding why the director would create a fictional world yet portray the villains as U.S. American solders."

Some interesting and deliberate parallels with the US Action in Iraq / Afghanistan, etc - very interesting. Lets hope it ends in the same way in real life too.

I found it as much as parallel with american history relating to the Indians. Probably more of a paralllel actually with the bow and arrow versus technology.

Guess they're used to f...king it up for everyone else.

Anyway, for those that haven't seen the movie - well worth watching - great plot, amazing special effects and impressive 3D experience.

I think they're over-analysing it. The film is made in Hollywood, everyone (human) in it will be American! Just like all aliens attack America, world disasters happen in America, and all super heroes live in America. America represents the world apparently. They wouldn't want to break the trend!

I fell asleep in parts.

I found it visually stunning much in the same vein as Tron in the 80s.

However the storyline, plot and characters were tired and dull in terms of ingenuity.

Maybe I'm being harsh as I expected a film in the same vein (and quality) of Aliens and Terminator 1 and 2 :(

Visually, it was stunning. Loved the 3D, dribbled at the CGI and whilst the story and plot were obvious from the off, it didn't spoil a fantastic spectacle. One of the very few films I would happily watch again (and maybe again!). Will probably lose the overall effect on a home system so I'd suggest watching it on the big screen.

Went to see this in 3D last night, simply stunning, a rare movie I would go and see again

The below comments are funny though, even more so if you take onboard that they are attacking them for the most valuable mineral which happens to be under there home, oil fields of Iraq anyone :D
