Supra TT Engine Rebuild Cost

You need to quantify what you mean by this on here. In a minute, if I have not been beaten to it, someone will say 'it depends on how far you want to go'. Are you talking about a stock rebuilt lump or with uprated everything.

I would say depending on spec and requirement the cost would be virtually limitless!!

Hi, this is just purely from curiosity, how much does it cost normally from a garage to have a Supra TT engine rebuilt. Has anyone on this owners club paid to have it done?

Thanks Dean

Brand new complete short block is about 2 grand from toyota, unless you are going for over 700 bhp id just go with a new shortblock.

Maybe slightly of topic here but whats the difference between a shortblock and a long block? Is it to do with the gubbins that come with it ie; pumps, belts etc? Or do I have it completely wrong! lol

Yea like wish bones etc like that

mines not that high mileage but the under body is pretty crusted up as its spent most of its time in scotland.

Stuff like the wishbones are fine just the sub frames and a bit of the sills are a problem.

Its not a big thing to worry about and easily cleaned up and treated

Mines done 103k and going strong! Look at JamieP's stock block handling 730BHP!

If your getting it standard with no major blocks then mileage would not be an issue. Don't be like most of these people who think 100k is like the maximum an engine should run. I remember reading on the forum I think one of the traders has had 2 Supra's in with 250,000 on the clock and they are still going strong!

Complete blocks with crank, rods pistons installed, just put your head and ancillaries on and drop it in.

Thats still a good days work, you need a full gasket set at around £200 and a new oil pump and water pump, and heres the cruncher, you really need to have a look abnd check the bottom end, a whole batch in the US had the wrong size shells in em and the US tuners reccomend checking all short motors before they are fitted, for the same sort of money its poss to build a motor with forged pistons all ARP bolts and fully balanced and thats with all clearances checked on assembly.

And from experience you try claiming on a warranty from ANY manufacturer for an engine thet they have not fitted, good luck.
