I just got an insurance quote for my first supra....

Reading between the lines you want to race around in a powerful car, like a complete tool with absolutely no experience in order to make yourself feel superior to the lower life forms (Chavs).

Why do you have one then? I cant be for the ride comfort or reliability can it?

Actually the reliability did play quite a big factor. I'm also quite confident i didn't buy it to race the chavs, the main difference between us is that i've been driving for 6 years :)

And I dont want to race Chavs either, I am quite sensible if im honest.

Its just I dont want to be the typical teenager that has a beaten up hatch seen as Ive worked this hard.

Am I in the wrong?

Nah, i know how you feel mate, i was the same, but the chances are you will crash it and then feel appauling that you did it in a car you really want. I know i did when i smashed my first car. Like mentioned earlier, something inbetween a Supra and a Corsa would be a good car to learn in, Celica or MR2 will save you lots on insurance and aren't exactly slow, plus they will give you a feel for rwd cars :)

Fast tracked through school and started college 1 year early.

I wasn't aware people could be 'fast tracked' through school. So is it a Foundation degree you have rather than the BA?

Ive had my heart set on some sort of Supra for a while, I think it was when I watched 2 Fast 2 Furious with the orange Supra that I started to want one.

You got many plans for modding it once you get it? A lot of people seem to be inspired by the F&F Supra...

Long story short, the cheapest was £23,360.07.

Im sorry, but how can they justify a price like that when the car itself is only £4999?

Im young (18) and passed my test and I can afford the car. But that is phenomanal.

What am I supposed to do? I cant afford that no way in hell, but I want my supra :(

Is that inc windscreen cover ? if it is i would take it !

If you ask me its stupid having a car like the supra at the age of 18, They make the insurance that high for a reason.

So young people carn't go killing them selfs in a high powered RWD car.....

If I had a supra at the age of 18 I dont think I would be talking to you now. Stick with the corsa for now mate.. :p[/QUOT

I agree, Im just 22 but worked my way up to getting the supra. I started off with a fiat bravo (wrote it off) clio, pug 206, honda civic, celica, mitsubishi fto and now the supra. IMO you should off in something nippy and just work you way up or you may end up crashing it and being shit scared of it after that. Have you tryed BELL insurance? Thats who im through and so are some other young members :D

they can be ;)

Just letting you know as my step sis was fast tracked through.

Degree by 18 is impressive though and to be honest if you have dedication and brains for that by time your 18 then you may be one of the few 18 yr olds who would drive sensibly in a supra...or sensibly when required should I say.

Nooooooooooooooooooo please dont make me, everyone has them all doing 70mph in what seems to be 1st gear judging by the noise there making.

I want a car(Supra) that will make all these silly chavs cry at its awesomeness, a car(Supra) that moves(In more way than one) me and gets me motivated.

You have got the wrong attitude to start with, You dont buy a supra so you can show up the chavs!, And when one does pull up at side of you, Just rev it up at lights to tease them, Watch them wheel spin off like cocks, As you pull away slowly.

I got my supra because my love for the car, I did get it for its speed but dont go crazy I carn't say I have never used the second turbo :sly: but dont drive like a cock, But at 18 I would have and I think 90% would also do the same. When you have the lads in the car showing off, next minute your sideways into a tree or lamp post!!.

It takes a lot of skill and experience to drive a high power RWD car. Especially the supra has it does not have a good traction control system to help you out, So is very easy to spin out, I myself will admit even when I first got the car i ended up the wrong way one or two times, And that was not from driving like a tit. Just because it took a little time to get used to the power.

My advise to you would be get Less powered car for now, Eg MR2 non turbo, Get used to the RWD hang on till you 20 and look at getting a N/A supra to start with cheaper to insure, then move on to your TT :).

Dont kill yourself or a supra or both!!! at the age of 18. :)

It is indeed a foundation degree, its a lower level degree, but a degree none the less.

As I said, the F & F supra first got me into the idea of supra's, even if it did lose to the skyline.

After that I researched into them to a certain level, but im still a bit confused on some of the things that can be done.

Im nearing my lost posts anyway guys, its been good talking to you all. I think I can deal with the idea of a Celica and jumping up to the Supra when im around the 21/22 mark after I rack up some no claims.

Cheers fellas, I appreciate it.

Remember this quote wasnt for a TT, it was for a SZ-R Aerotop :)

it's probably because it's an aero, most insurance companies classify it as a convertible (ie easier to break in to!)

DEADLY:d

Anyway take advice from the guys here, Supra + 18 = Disaster. With you having only 1 years on the road experiance you are not ready for the power that a Supra would bring. Do it the way everyone else has done it at your age. Get a nice little hot hatch and get some driving experiance and build your no claims up. I always wanted a Cosworth from the age of 20 but I didnt get one till I was 30!!

Supra TT's eat my 2wd Cossy for breakfast and Spit out the rest. Its all about building up your driving skills and NCB not just because you can afford it.

Take it from Mr Ronaldo. Can afford the car and insurance but it is not all about that
