Matt H
Sorry, but I'm on a high at the mo and though I'd share Anyway... Naughty me, I think I've stumbled across something that my amazing GF is get me for xmas. It's a track day experiance, but she's actually managed to pull something out of the bag that I would really want from one! I've never done a track day before in any car, so this will be something to remember. It appears to be a track day at Elvington with the following! 1 Demo lap in a super saloon (Instructor Driving) 4 Laps in the Ferrari 360 Challenge Stradale (Customer Driving) 4 Laps in the Lamborghini LP640 (Customer Driving) 4 Laps in the Aston Martin DBS (Customer Driving) 1 High speed lap (Instructor driving) I love xmas
michael
Sorry to burst your bubble but if she can get a refund on that try and sort it asap - a "lap" involved driving up one side of one of the runways, turning around and then coming back down again. I've watched the poor souls doing it, probably awesome for your average Fiesta driver but you could get more thrills asking for a few test drives at JCT600 in Leeds. Have a lovely time though, let me know when you go so I can take in the disappointment in person... Mmm... tasty... (On a more serious note I hope I'm wrong and it's one of the better offerings they have up there, sounds like the one the chap who writes for EVO magazine runs). Well that doesn't sound that great, but getting to drive a lambo would be a dream come true in any form. I'm hardly going to tell my GF that she should get a refund on the present that I don't know I'm getting and haven't received yet though. Knowing my luck, it's probably going to be a let down, but I guess it beats a new wooly jumper and sleepers for xmas.
gaz1
yeah i was also very dissapointed in a so called driving experience of the exotics, they would not let me give them full chat at anytime, i actually enjoyed the drive down in the supe better than the day itself:blink:
Havard
I have done two of these and didn't think that either were particular VFM. A word of caution also. The last time I saw a high speed lap with an instructor, he binned the rally car into a field.....:d:d Strangely enough, someone else took the course after that as the instructor was too upset to continue..!! j1mb0b1
Yup sorry bud i have also done the same thing at Elvington and was abig let down, It's up and down the runway 3 times then pull back in and change car. They would only let me give it full beans for arunnd 2 seconds before telling you when you apply brakes And when I put the foot down a little when turning the bend to come back on myself he just switched his button and cut the engine off. Started talking to me like a little kid saying you could have lost the back end there, Do you know what happens when you put your foot down in a RWD car. Please dont do that again or you will not drive anymore cars LOL.
j1mb0b1
Tell her to get you this http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=204847 Take your own car
tooquicktostop
I did the exact experience as a gift, lots of waiting around so pick a spring/summer day Duel controls on the exotics and they brake for you all the time ![ANGRY][/ANGRY] Fast lap with instructor is impressive Both Ferraris broke in the first hour Evo 9 was the highlight for me, amazing car So many things could have made it a better day out I would much prefer a track day in an old Scooby but allowed to give it full beans with some real instruction

stevie_b
A rule of thumb for trackdays: the less exotic the car, the more they'll let you boot it! I bought my girlfriend a trackday at Thruxton in a Formula Ford(?) single-seater a few years ago. It doesn't have the same "I've been in a Ferrari" factor, but they don't mind what you do with them as long as you come back with you and the car in one piece! 3 pedals, a steering wheel and a bolt for a gearstick. Anything else is just excess weight.
Matt H
A word of caution also. The last time I saw a high speed lap with an instructor, he binned the rally car into a field.....:d:d Ace! Would love that to happen when I was in the passenger. pistonbroke
Sorry matt, I have to concur with the above posts mate. The brands hatch Nigel Mansell experience I did years ago in the little formula fords was the best I've ever done. 10 laps of 1600 CVH madness. They were flagging me on every corner to slow me down, but hey, sod em, short of jumping in front of the car, I wasn't slowing down for anyone. They staggered started 18 of us from the pits, 10 laps later, I had overtaken all but one other driver. My mate has done the rally experience there, and they only reason they shouted at him, was because he wouldn't put his foot down enough in the escort cossie. Matt H
Well I'm certainly not detered. It's not the ragging it bit, it's more the actualy experiance of driving these cars, even if it's a bit tame. I'll report back, but I'm sure I'll love it. Like I said though, it beats socks! Abz
My sisters wanted to get me a track day in the new Nissan Skyline GTR but I told them not too. I'd rather book a track day & go in my own car!
Whitesupraboy2
I did track day at thruxton and it was really good. I choose the single seater experience Although limited to 4500rpm with your arse on the floor and 4th gear at that amount of revs there was a high enough speed there to give a good through the corners.
