Gamer
Need opinions on running a 265/35/18 tyre on a 9" wheel up front. I currently have 245/35's on now. Likely to have issues ? Anyone else run that ?
Digsy
Sounds a bit wide for a 9" wheel to me.
QSC
They should fit no problem, I used have them on 7" rims on my MkII - are these for the Lexus ? At least they help stop you from kerbing the alloys, cause the first thing to hit the kerb is the rubber.....
Digsy
Taken from a document I had laying around: "The ‘J’ classification was defined in recognition of the fact that the same rim width can happily carry a range of tyre widths. In general, you can fit a tyre whose bead-width (‘BW’ in Fig.-1) is between ½” less and 1½” more than (J). So 7½J means that you can fit a tyre whose bead-width is between 7” and 8½”. The bead width is usually about 1cm less than the tread-width, so a 225 would have a bead-width of 215mm." That means that a 9" wide rim (229mm bead width) takes a nominal 240tyre, but can take down to -0.5" (12.5mm) = 227ish to +1.5" (38.1mm) = 278ish So, I take it back, they should be OK on a 9". Wouldn't fancy it on 7" though (225 max)!
Thorin
Would be ok on that width of wheel I suppose but it will more than likely rub on the inner wheel arches and also possible catch the lip. http://www.kulthea.net/fitment.xls
Gamer
Ok, thanks for the replies. I guess it is a case of fit and see.
Marty
Think the main thing id be worried about is the power steering pump failing, its gonna be working a hell of alot more that what it does on the standard width tyre. Just make sure your always moving when you turn the wheel
Gamer
Ok, Fair enough. But surely the guys running widebody kits and 10" fronts don't have to worry about the power steering pump. Or do they ?

Whitelightning
265s on TAZ, I'd be inclided to stay with 245s thogh in future, to make it easier on the steering.
Gamer
Yeah, the steering is a little heavier. Nothing I can't manage though...
