Homer
No matter what number you choose it will always select the same few posibilities on the grid (since there is a limited number of 'answers'), i.e. it's impossible for it to be wrong
stevie_b
You will end up with a number that is a multiple of 9. Notice how the multiples of 9 have all the same object associated with them! The others are just put there as "noise" to fool you. Let x be the tens of units you pick, and y be the single-digit units. E.g. if you pick 25 as a starting number, x=2 and y=5. Your starting number is 10x+y. Now minus each digit to get your final number: 10x+y - x - y = 9x x must be an integer greater than 0 (otherwise your starting number would only be 1 digit, which breaks the rules) and less than 10, so your final number will always be a multiple of 9. Homer
That's better explained Steve I remember this being one of the (simpler) homework assignments I had to do for GCSE maths all those years ago!

AndrewOW
It's very clever, and will entertain stupid people for a long time. I've been playing for several hours now, and it's confusing the hell out of me!
