another work related rant.

Tomorrow is the last day of my 10 week redundancy notice period. At the start of it we were given plenty or information regarding rights and entitlements, one being that we would have a full days pay for time off relating to finding new jobs ie interviews, job hunting, research etc.

I informed my line manager about this at the start of the period and informed him that il be having various days off over the weeks to look for work. However, he wasnt booking me in for the days off. This dispute went on for about 5 weeks and totalled 56 hours worth of pay short not being paid to me.

I got in touch with one of the senior contracts managers, who authorises the hours, 2 weeks ago to find out whats going on and he told me he wanted the dates i was off and a description of why i was off. I emailed him these the next day. Phoned him today to find out the latest and he said he had received my email but has done nothing about it but now wants proof of where i was and what i was doing on the days off.

I can provide proof for about 20 hours where i had meetings but how can you prove you were job hunting for the rest?! i asked him this and he just said he wanted any sort of proof.

The annoying thing is that others have had the same amount of time off, if not more and got paid accordingly. Some were even told to stay home for their entire notice period with full pay!

Monday is when my last time sheet goes in and he,and i, both know that if i dont get it sorted by then im going to have a nightmare trying to get it off them.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention this guy whos being awkward is also having things made awkward for himself by a certain someone in work whos appealing for unfair dismissal against him:innocent:

Just make up times/dates spent on the net searching for jobs, visits to the job centre and agencies. Spend a bit of time making it look genuine, not the sort of things you always get documentation for so he can't argue it.

Had they asked for written evidence for every minute of time taken off doing job hunting in the beginning then he might have a point but the fact that others haven't been asked the same just makes him look the arse that he is :D

The appeal didn't work out then?

The appeal went brilliantly!

the union rep really earned his money monday afternoon. just awaiting for a reply from the company regarding their coarse of action. if they dont back down the paper work is in place for tribunal hearing in the new year.

Doesn't the company have to let you know soon if they are doing an about turn? Then I guess the paperwork goes to the solicitors before the tribunal? This is where mine went sour, that and the fact I found another job seemed to pour water on the whole situation :(

I filled out them with the Union and then it all went to the Union solicitors, are they representing you?
