CJ
I have a cheap and cheerful surround sound system that works from a left and right RCA / phono type input. Usuaully I just use the audio out from my DVD player abd this works very well but I recently bought one of these and wanted to play that through the surround sound too. Unfortunately, the suround system only has 1 set of audio inputs and so I thought I would connect both the Trekstor and my DVD player by using a 2 in / 1 out splitter for the phono leads. I tried this but the sound is now riddled with static. This is whether the DVD is turned on or not. I have checked the connections and they are good and if I just use one input onto the splitter then it works fine. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Mike
I have the same problem with mine... unfortunately it's a manual switch over every time I want to swap out one for the other *awaits miracle solution*
AlexJames
...just a thought... are the audio wires running anywhere near power wires?
CJ
...just a thought... are the audio wires running anywhere near power wires? Not really - and even if they were, wouldn't that be a problem when they were run seperately too?
CJ
I have the same problem with mine... unfortunately it's a manual switch over every time I want to swap out one for the other *awaits miracle solution* It's strange eh? I mean it's not as if the both systems (and therefore signals) are being used at the same time.

I have to have both devices switched one for the plug thingy to work (and it's only a bit of metal!?). If one is switch off it sounds really quiet... Why do they make Surround Sound systems with only one input!? It's my fault for assuming the manufacturer would realise I have more than just a VCR to plug into it these days!? Digsy
You could use a cheap audio switch box like this: http://www.sourcingmap.com/load-audio-video-rca-switch-box-home-theater-p-6713.html?currency=GBP Ok, so that ones fugly as, but I'm sure there are prettier options. Maybe even remote controlled or automatics ones, too.

I guess they only make Surround Systems with one input as for the casual a/v person this would be enough just to plug in the phonos off their dvd player. Some dont even have optical outputs!! thats criminal. As I have been into a/v for many years and using different kinds of amps, power amps etc my advice would be to by a cheap amp over a phono switcher but I guess it depends on your funds. All in the box Surround systems are ok if thats all you require but are limited on inputs. A second hand amp would not cost much on ebay and you could connect everything. Something like the below ebay link would be ideal if your just getting started with amps and not wanting Hdmi or 7.1 Surround http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Sony-STR-DE685-5-1-Surround-Sound-Amplifier-Amp_W0QQitemZ130349037309QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_AudioTVElectronics_HomeAudioHiFi_Amplifiers?hash=item1e596876fd Scotty
CJ
TBH Scotty, that is a tad OTT for what I need or could realistically use. I think I will settle for my little switch box

CJ
Yeah cool CJ just thought I would post an option to the switcher:) And I welcomed the input. If I lived in a bigger house, didnt work 6 evenings a week in the winter and 7 in the summer then I would definitely have gone down that route.
