Spike3.0
I've got a big problem I really need help with. I've just drove my manual NA 5 speed around 140miles for a work meeting. The journey was fine, no car problems at all and the engine temp looked good. But when I entered the Hotel car park the clutch sank to the floor and stuck until I lifted it back up. It then came up itself ok a couple of times whilst parking, but then kept sticking again. The last time the whole car sounded like it was griding to a holt and the engine stalled. I managed to get it going again and put it in a space. I've owned the car around 4 months now and driven around 5k miles. I know its alot but 30mph is ok. I had it serviced last month with a oil and filter change and a coolant flush/ change. Upto now the cars been perfect and I never rag it around. It had a clutch change around a year ago from the previous owner, I have the reciept I just opened the bonnet and the car has water and oil, and seems ok in that aspect, I always keep an eye on the levels. I did notice that the top radiator pipe has little if no pressure, not sure if thats normal? I need your help guys. I'm knackered. I heavily depend on this car and I'm stressing out big time. Need any help. PLEASE
bondango
check the clutch Fluid Level, sounds like you've lost pressure either due to very low fluid or leaking clutch master/slave cylinder. Grinding to a halt was prolly due to the car being in gear, even though you had foot on clutch pedal.
Spike3.0
Il check tomorrow when it light, cheers. The car starts at the moment and I've not seen any engine lights to indicate problems there. What a nightmare. I'm stuck in Reading now : (
creative
The car starts at the moment and I've not seen any engine lights to indicate problems there. ( might be due to the common dry joint issue on the warning lights...
Spike3.0
might be due to the common dry joint issue on the warning lights... Whats that then? I do get the flash of lights before ignition and the main ! light comes on when the doors aren't correctly locked. Really don't want to have to return home on the back of an RAC lorry
Ian C
You won't get warning lights for anything clutch related.
Chris Wilson
Sounds like the pressure cover has collapsed, or the bearing has collapsed. Short of taking the box out in the hotel car park (something I would have considered in my youth, but I wouldn't recommend it in these `elf `n safety conscious days), it'll be a tow or trail to a garage. Spike3.0
Checked the car this morning and the levels seem fine and the clutch moves and pulls correctly. I only gave it 2 mins so the engine was still cold, il try again later to see if it makes a difference hotter. Anyone got any more ideas ? Thanks for the help so far
