Supragal
I know eventually I'll have to come to my own decision on this but I'm really struggling to make up my mind. Basically, as some of you will know I've had a serious amount of engine stuff sat at my house awaiting the return of my car. However I've been stung for an unexpected bill to complete the bodywork on the car- to pretty much the same value of the engine bits at home. I'm also in the process of buying a house and the mortgage will be more than the rent I pay now so money isn't exactly gonna be as available once we complete. To finish the car I will have to borrow the money, so, my sensible side tells me to cut my losses sell the engine parts and owe nothing on the car- sure it won't be the totally crazy show car I intended but at least I won't have to borrow anything to do it. On the flip side however I've just been going through it all to list down exactly what I have and quite franky it all rocks so much I don't want to sell it What would everyone do? Clarkey
I think you need to have a long think of what's important to you and at the end of the day ... what's going to make you happy. House or Stunning Show car ? Tough choice I know! I've got a T61 BL Single kit to source ... I can either move to Guildford and drive the car till it eventually goes Pete Tong. Or get the Vortex boys to plant a T61 in there, sort the fueling out, map it. Estimated cost so far is £3100! That was my house! But at the end of the day of me ... the car makes me happier. Jake
You've got to finish your dream car. You're nearly there. Please don't give up now Rosie.
Lazarus
Put the bits on the car Rosie! It'll look better for all the magazines that will be knocking your door down for a photo shoot once its on the road.
JustGav
Well, what bits have you got... Then think seriously which ones you can fit yourself.. and then wait off until a wee bit later and fit the rest of it... You have waited to long for the car which you REALLY want, so don't do it half hearted, finish the car to how you wanted it, even if it takes a wee bit longer Gav

Too late for choices on the house- it's happening, we complete in 8 weeks hopefully!! I want both, and I could have both but at a price... and I don't want to end up finding out I can't afford keep one or the other, or even either

Lazarus
we complete in 8 weeks hopefully!! Sounds like a house warming party is required, will it be "bring a screwdriver" to get all this bling fitted then?

ewizzy
Like has already been said before, you cant take money with you when you die...... I would keep the Supra, at the end of the day, if you have to borrow a little to get your dream car done, its not the end of the world, even of you have to be a bit skint for a while until ou pay the loan off....However, you could sell all the bits, and then not be happy with it, still not be THAT much better off, and not have the car of your dreams..... Am I making sense? Probably not..... Do what you want at the end of the day, but you have waited SO long for this, you may as well sacrifice a little more and get it! Class One
I know eventually I'll have to come to my own decision on this but I'm really struggling to make up my mind. No you're not, you just need some reassurance that you're doing the right thing. You only live once. never regret the things that you do, only the things that you don't. Muffleman
Maybe keep some and sell some ? If it's a showcar you're after, then keep the 'blingy' stuff until you're a bit better off. Pot...kettle...black ! My Supra was supposed to replace my heavily modified MR2 turbo, I still have it. Plus I'm trying to work out a way of buying a third Supra without selling the others You only live once like the others have said, but just make sure you can still live !!! Hope it works out for you

Nic
How about sell the new parts you've got to cover the bodywork costs. Then get replacement parts from sponsorship by a few choice traders :hint: :hint: in exchange for a mention in a few shows & mags? BTW if you need any parts at cost from here just shout.... SupraStar 3000
finish the car. Its hard to justify spending on a none essential item like a show car, but if you don't whats the point working. I too have had to get loans and miss out on new accommodation due to my car and running costs,...... but its worth it

The other sponsors are getting graphics and so on as well as coverage but traders aren't generally up for that kinda thing sadly. Thanks for the cost offer

Thanks for the cost offer What sort of engine parts are we talking about here, is it just dress or performance? I'd say ditch the performance bits for now and just concentrate on making the engine bay look as stunning as the bodywork is going to look. When finances allow you can always do the other bits you intended. Surely the work you put in on here is worth a bit of bling sponsorship, in exchange for a sign at a show or mention in a mag? Faye
Finish it, you'll always regret not doing it otherwise. You'll get the house and suddenly you won't want to spend money on anything else so commit to the car before you finally complete. My brake conversion has been on hold for too long thanks to house bills!
