monsween
Before the normal answer of it doesn't work comes, i already know it wont with the standard motor. I was thinking, has anyone thought about using linear actuators hooked up to it? Wondering if its worth even attempting it.
tooquicktostop
I just fixed mine in the lower position, it looks better that way also IMO
monsween
Thats what im planning on doing when i get one, just purely for functionality it may be nice to have it able to go up/down.

AndrewOW
My car has one of Garfy's manual override switches on the front spoiler, and there's no way I would ever leave it down for a lot of in town driving. It's just too hazardous and will scrape on just about anything!
bigbloodyturbo
I thought about it aswell but with the effort involved making brackets and control boxes up I gave it a miss. The other problem is the linear actuators that are advertised in most of the catologues are made for plc type automated systems and are not really designed to take years of water and salt fired at them so how long they would last would be anyone's guess. I seem to remember there being better ones but they were mega expensive and quite chunky.
Abz
Though about this when I saw Darren's Red Mint UK Spec at SRR, his Active Spoiler kicked it & looked so beautifully fluid! Was such a swift & effortless motion. I brought a FMIC & from reading I gather it is better\easier to let it in the down motion. Also have the same issue with the town driving where it will hit on bumps & dips in roads.
j_jza80
Why not use a Whifbitz uprated SMIC? efficient enough for twins, less lag and working active spoiler.
monsween
I already have a FMIC and want to keep it
DSK
Best of luck finding a solution other than locking it down. But as mentioned its not really ideal for city use, you never know when you'll come to an horrid speed bump or if you let someone else drive your car, they will bump it whilst parking upto a kerb or something. Abz
I could have got a SMIC, but found the FMIC looked pretty good as well as being able to do the job of a SMIC, I am sure the OP was maybe thinking the same...or got his car with the FMIC fitted.
