Car alarms but does lock?!?

Noticed last night after SRR when i got home and push my key fob my alarm sounded but i didnt hear the doors lock - tried the door and it was open so the alarm went off.

I push the fob again and it locked fine.

Unlocked fine this morning.

Got to work and pushed fob and same thing - no locking of the doors - tried a couple of times but it only set the alarm not the central locking. wierd. :search:

Any ideas?

Was your interior light on? Usually suggests the door being partially open. In some cases the alarm won't try to lock the doors if it thinks they are open.

Hi Scott .... no mate checked that.

Altho with my alarm (Laserline Cat 1), if the doors are slightly open or its not happy about how the car is the alarm beeps 4 times when you try to alarm it to let you know somethings not closed.

Its alarming fine by the looks of it - just not powering the c/locking.

I get something similar, sometimes I'll get out of the car and shut the door and go to get stuff out of the boot. The alarm will auto set but not lock the doors.

I have to hit the button to disarm, then press again which locks and sets the alarm. Doesn't do it all the time though.

I'd just presumed it was some auto arming setting I'd managed to enable (I know you can turn on or off the alarm beep by pressing a button with the drivers door still open for example).

Hi, I've had this locking fault with my Clifford Concept 650 fob and auto-locking feature and the Toyota key fob locker, unlocks fine but fails to lock. One thing no one has mentioned is the drivers door (near the power window switches) central locking switch and if that also does not lock the doors. Mine would not lock on this switch. Anyway I traced the fault to the drivers door key lock switch, if I disconnected this switch inside the door the locking worked fine. Follow the black wiring loom down from the door handel and you will find a connector with 3 wires, disconnect it and the problem should go away. I'm not sure what's in the handel/lock and if it can be adjusted but my guess is the switch is either nackered or out of adjustment. Perhaps someone can throw some light on this? Does the central locking lock both doors with the turn key? Mine didn't.

I have just spent 2 days in the freezing cold trying to sort this problem with my car. I have followed the service manual and have tested each component in turn. I found the problem to be the drivers door switches. Looking at the pcb there appears to be nothing wrong. But it's the only variable I can't test fully and is the one thing that is intermittant in it's operation.

Anyway thought I would let you all know. As you may all be suffering from a similar problem.
