Scumrun car - project begins!

Pig

Recommended Posts

Thought you might like to see me put together my under £500 legacy for the scum run im doing in april. The project began this weekend with wrapping. Got over half the car done, not bad for a 3 novices, too much beer and normal vinyl rather than car wrapping stuff.

Lots more to come :)

Who's Dave?

Looks good Jon, which one is Dave :D

The one in the santa hat. We are going to make a sports button especially for him for the trip as when i lent him the RS4 for the weekend he didnt realise there was a sports button. Poor bloke has been ridiculed ever since.

how about putting the peter solberg pig all over it url]http://www.es-designs.net/images/items/subaru/rally_pig.jpg[/url]

Maybe, we still have to put our heads together reference the pink bits as pigs, polka-dots and flames all seem to be on the menu.

Thanks for your response. I went for the Hadley ones as they look so good and I didnt want to miss out on them. It comes with a certain amount of fittings. I have a diving air tank with compressed air in.

Do you think i will be able to use this and will it last ok?

Will the amount of pressure 130 psi will these horns take it?

Did you still want to know something about scuba cylinders Jon? I used to be a reasonably senior scuba diving instructor. Don't feck about with pressurised cylinders BTW, you could regret it: a 12l has more explosive force than a grenade.

No messing :) I have a 7l (old nitrox cylinder) that i use to fill my air rifle. If its complicated I will seek help but it will hopefully be ok.

You would be better off using a little 12v compressor mate.

Project looks great btw. :)

A little compressor will work just fine but it wont be as noisey, im hoping it will be offensive as its all in air of charity :innocent:

Little compressor does 135psi. Your ideal pressure range.

Multiple blasts or one blast. That is the question. :D

It's a bit too expensive and not keeping with the whole scumrun ethos though, so it's a no here. :D

Should have looked at your suggestion, didnt realise it did 135psi and was so reasonably priced. Thats now very much on the short list!

Thanks andy.

What do you mean about it not keeping with the scumrun ethos? Have you done one before? Is it important to keep money spent on the car down?

I think so yes. It's called Scumrun.

However that link pointed at what I thought was a compressor but was just the storage tank bit. So 45 dollars went to 185 dollars for the full install.

I'm sorry I didn't spot that earlier mate.

Ok, Help time :)

Got the horns tonight and they are somehting else!

I hooked them all up to check they worked and because i couldnt wait etc.

2 promlems i have encountered are the small plastic type washers are single use and that i need a pipe that can take pressure from the tank to the manual switch as the brake pipe they gave me is not designed to take any pressure and therefore pops.

Could anyone help point me in the right direction for which pipe and what to do about fittings on either end? Or do i just find the right shot and get them to make me the required length?

Jon
