Okay I admit to watching Pimp My Ride on occasion, I don't feel the need to emulate but it's good tv.

Anyhoo, I have been massively impressed by the work of Ish the interior guy, am I alone in this ? Or is he just an average upholsterer ?

He did a truck, I think, with flames in the door cards, on the seats etc, just looks so well done !

Now, where's my Max Power :tumble:

Another fan of Pimp My Ride here just for entertainment value, shame they don't go into engine/performance tuning side of things too.

Anyone seen Overhaulin', similar type of thing but they steal someones motor for a week and overhaul it big time. Chip Foose (SEE HERE) does the designs, the guy is a hot rodding God :kneel:

Really like this (except for crap US presenters) as it's an hour long so they show more of the build in detail and it's serious roddin' as opposed pimpin' :sex:

American Hotrod is still my favourite out of all of them, along with World Biker Build Off.

Overhauling is good as Chip comes up with some great designs etc, its just the presenters that ruin it for me.

Not seen American Hotrod, unless this is the one with Boyd Coddington? Yes Bike Build Off is great and the builders make it really entertaining.

American Hotrod is good. I watch Pimp My Ride and the guys are good at what they do IMO, but the ideas they come up with leave alot do be desired. A goldfish tank in the back, a coffee maker in the front arm rest and digital cameras in the sun visor WTF???

not forgetting the drop down oxygen masks in last nights episode - for those moments when Mr Skateboarder needs to catch his breath back after a hard session.................skateboarding.

WTF !

:innocent:

I have to say I am with Nic here... overhaulin is much better in terms of a more no frills approach to revamping cars. Thank god for Sky plus.... its recorded on series link. However in my insomnia, I watched it last night, and they restored a 60's corvette including a brand new edelbrock engine - I have only seen one engine change on pimp my ride.... Though is you want to see engines - did anyone ctach that episode of American Hotrod with the corvette race ar with the 1500HP twin turbo engine..... now that was just plain loony!

Pimp my Ride is awesome coz they use cool old american cars that have some character. A UK version would never work.

The one with the pool table on the pick-up truck was the best! :D

Not all old yank cars, they've also had quite a few jap cars and VW's.

It makes me wonder, when the penniless, 17 year old, charity worker, who is holding down 3 jobs and caring for their sick grandmother. When they finally get their dream pimped ride back home to their ghetto, how long it will be before it gets broken into and the HUGE flat screens/ICE knicked.

Also have you ever wondered how shamefully bad, said penniless, young, good doing, hard working, granny carers must be at driving their cars to get them into such a state to start with? And how shockingly lazy they must be when it comes to maintaining their cars? Wonder how long their pimped dream lasts before getting pranged and duck taped back together?

I was also wondering by the last series how many, young, lazy, out of work, fame obsessed, X 2 the Z wannabe hoes, had taken a perfectly good car and trashed it on purpose, just to get a bunch of free flat screens and a popcorn maker, they could then flog on and make a good profit from?

Or maybe I'm just wondering too much

Personally i cant stand the show! I always get the impression they dont know what their on about, and nearly all the cars come out of it looking shocking. The UK version will be even worse no doubt, but may contain a large amount of comical value due to the presenter being Tim Westwood  What a twat

American Hotrod/Overhaulin/American Chopper etc.... are much better programs, get a proper insight into what their doing and how they do it rather than biggin up dub 2 chrome Giovanni spinners and a boot full of Audiobahn 32" subs.

[/end rant]

But the owner was a proper tool, a 1500hp custom drag car with full leather/air con/stereo etc... :banghead:

With 1500hp you could fit a jacuzzi in the boot and replace the back seats with a mini and still blitz practically anything else on the road. You may get a bit of water spillage and spilt drinks though ;)
