Tricky-Ricky
I seem to have picket up something that has disabled windows defender, and turned off the windows firewall (well at lest given the impression of doing it) also stooped my Avira from working:( It also keeps telling me that i have a malaware or virus problem and i should install this anti malaware program, which i haven't yet as i'm afraid that if it going to this much trouble what else it is going to do:( Will try and get a couple of screen shots of the messages, has anyone got any ideas? is the a free download that will hunt it down and get rid of it? Abz
Ricky, what sort of Anti Virus software do you have? Don't install the Malware software...nothing is free really, they are normally the viruses you are downloading. Did you recently install\Unistall any AV software? WFW & WD could be stopped because windows does not recognise your AV software or if two different AV software was install on the machine causing it to be confused. Homer
Classic malware Ricky. Some of them can be a pain to get rid of. First of all, which OS are you using, which antivirus software and what product is the link asking you to purchase?
HadeS
heehe... yes they will give you free scan which will show a lot of troyans but this is a lot of B00Locks ;]. Don't be afraid. BE VERY AFRAID
Tricky-Ricky
I haven't recently changed any anti virus software, i have been using Avira and the windows defender runs fine with it, but now the defender is not working and the security centre is turned off, cant turn it on, and the avira is disabled. The program is designed to look like a windows anti malware, here is a screen shot of the message. Oh! and i'm using Vista home premium. DamanC
Did you know you can drag your favs rather than ordering them alphabetically? Anyway, download and run a full scan of malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/

Porky1978
Download Spybot search and destroy too, works well, its free and easy to use. Good luck, some can be a real PITA to get rid of!!
Angarak
As suggested above, download MalwareBytes and run it in SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING. This will allow you to update MalwareBytes to ensure you have the latest version. You may find that some trojans/malware will prevent the MalwareBytes EXE file from running, if this happens rename it to something less obvious (ie: "banana.exe") and it should then run. If MalwareBytes doesnt do the trick, you could try ComboFix (checks for rootkits and can detect some that MalwarebBytes doesnt), however you should read up on using ComboFix before you use it. Yes i have already found that any existing anti malware/anti virus will not run due to this, and nothing i have downloaded will run either. I will try naming them as something else, but this one is a sod! I am using win 7 on my partition which is fine, i am seriously thinking of formatting the other partition and re installing a ghost image i have, but i can't find how to format the other partition?? Yes i know about my favorites, but i'm used to it that way and prefer it.
