Marco79
My experience on diesels is minimal so I really don't know where to start, at any random time the management light comes on and I lose all my 'go' changing down gears increases the revs but it won't accelerate and I'm lucky to make it up hills! It's like someone reaches in and nicks my turbo! I ran a diagnostic but no code stored which I find strange and so I have no idea where to start! If I turn the ignition off and restart the problem goes but can come back 5mins or 5days later there is no pattern any ideas? All help gratefully received oh and it's a 2000 astravan sportive 2.0di

SUPRALOOPY
If you have the 2.0 engine you should have the y20dth engine. If you have the egr is at the front with a electrical connector at the bottom (push this in then find the the clip and press then remove, this should be easy do not force this) Then there should be two water pipes, remove these (not alot of water should release) You will then have two male torx bits to undo and the unit should remove to the right and up under the airbox hose. Once the unit is removed you will have a plunger that is VERY delicate that needs cleaning....be careful and remove all soot around the valve you can force the valve up un down and clean but be careful, once it moves freely you have won. Once clean replace and enjoy the fact that when it happens again youknow what to do!! LOL

Thanks mate hopefully can attack it today, if it is the egr are you able to remove it like you can on some other engines? What benefit is the egr valve? movistar
Egr, maybe...2.0 diesel's also suffered from air mass meter problems...as well as a million other things. Vauxhall+electrics=disaster
absz
Thanks mate hopefully can attack it today, if it is the egr are you able to remove it like you can on some other engines? What benefit is the egr valve? the egr valve was fitted to reduce emissions at certain rpm load. IF its the valve you can buy a blanking plate and have the valve removed, but will need to have a software upgrade so the management light does not come ON for a egr fault. also check the pipes that go to the boost solenoid and wastegate as that can also make the engine go into limp mode (lacking power)
Marco79
Well the egr was indeed jammed up with soot..... And full of oil??????? However it's all cleaned and functional again but alas my problem has not been solved next punt lads?

Marco79
Right here is the update no codes stored on diagnostics, egr valve cleaned and all good, air flow sensor seems good, only thing is the temp gauge barely reads, I've changed the temp switch but no effect could this be a contributary factor or just another problem? Marco79
Gave in and put the van to vauxhall, picked her up last night and apparently it's the boost control valve that's shot! So I've ordered one just gotta wait for it to come in and fingers crossed
