Redline Rumble - Santa Pod 15th May

Well Santa Pod has spent some money on resurfacing a lot of areas which is good.

Same old signing in and waiting to race problems but it was OK.

Well f*cked off though as I spent over £300 on drag tyres and wheels to go in em only to get a 13.2 best. That's with NOS (didn't seem to work) and mods to give just under 500bhp.

Maybe I lost a few tenths coz I had 2 road wheels in the back plus my trolley jack and tools to fit the drag wheels.

What do I have to do!!! My old Supe got better QTR's with just a decat!

Fix the NOS and fit a torque converter me thinks.

Saw Alex and the guy from Hyperperformance. If your car is the silver with carbon bonnet it looks very nice mate.

hiya totally new to this forum, just had the sup tt for 1 week, did'nt run as my turbo oil feeds are leaking, need new gaskets, i have a silver veilside/trd rz-s tt 6 speed, i can't wait to drag the beast it's so much fun i'm loving the car, it has 3.2 hks stroker kit, de-cats exhaust, induct, plugs, stock tubbies and (i think) stock injectors boost controller plus a few other usual bit's and pieces, guessing at 420-450fwhp not sure.

Spoke to justin, friendly guy first supra person i chatted too, i think i also talked to someone else on here maybe, what do you reckon i'll do the qtr in guys roughly, i'm about to get a fcd fitted cos i'm getting annoyed with my car fuel cutting just when i'm starting to fly and hit awesome boost, any other mods that don't cost the earth to net me more horses and make my beast run better etc that you guys would recomend please let me know.

Great day supras doing class times and pretty much ruling the roost with the skytaxi's also :D

Yeah was a great day yesterday. Saw lots of supra didnt speak to any one though to shy. As i said was with karl in his modded Lotus esprit on the red line stand. Watched the Driftworks team for ages they were really good. Cant wait for Rockingham. Hope to speak to a few more of you on Saturday. Thought your car looked stunning Hy-Performance :) There was an orange supra running just over 10 Sec it was rapid. Red Line were selling there new publication JTuner flicking through the pages and there was RAY ( Rays The Roof ) you kept that quiet Ray . Whole section on supra owners in this months copy.

justin what psi were you running and did you warm them up good?

my best on street tyres is 12.5 with 2.050 60 foot been best 60foot on cheap street rubber. you seem to have plenty of power and should have plenty of grip with bfg`s or et streets. what rpm were you launching at?

well done leon getting loads better. his he going to beat dude to be the first uk built supra into the 9`s :respekt:

Mark, hes so close and even the 10 sec flat times you could still hear a little popping and cracking, so I guess with a touch more fine tuning he'll be in the 9's

Terry, didnt see any Sumo cars running. There were abbey skylines and that Top Secret R32 which ran a 10.6

Mark,

I was running 20psi mate. I burned em up at the start line. Launching at 2200 then tried 3000 and jumped the start like a tw*t.

Ran with OD off, TRAC fuse out. 1.5bar boost

The two 17" second hand rear Khan wheels I used feel very heavy so maybe that didn't help. Getting so annoyed with this mate it doesn't add up. I think the first heavy Hybrid is taking ages to spool up. I miss my J-Spec tubbies.

Check out my drag time data comparison between my two Supras. Bear in mind the new Supe has a huge amount of mods and the old one just a decat.

No I didn't mate, I was thinking that the day was all a bit of a waste of time with all the weight I was carrying so stopped trying.

Grip didn't seem to be a problem there was just not much umpf to get me off the line when I floored it. Once the second turbo comes in it flies.

I'm gonna take it to Thor for a chart and to sort out the NOS.

i ran my bfg`s at about 16psi at santapod. it jumps off line if you get a good launch. you will know when you do get it. it makes you go funny inside like on a rollercoaster.

with really sticky tyres you should have so much grip when you power brake. it had so much grip i was pressing so hard on font brake it pushed car through beam causing a red light. its your 60foot times letting you down. have you had car dynoed to check what power your running and everything is running ok. i only trap at about 114mph on stock jap turbos and 440cc injectors. you say you have 500hp?

Personally with drag tyres and a manual I'd be launching my single at 5,000rpm...and slipping the clutch all the way through 1st...with this in mind I think we've found your problem....not enough revs on launcg which can only be fixed by a hi stall torque converter.

That's what I think it is too.

As I say Dyno coming up. The car has been timed at 4.2 secs 0-60mph with the 75 hp wet NOS running properly according to the previous owner who I trust.

Doesn't add up.

he has an auto. i have done a 2.050 60foot on cheap street rubber. i found out anything other 2k revs and tyres spin on spot on stock stall. on aftermarket stall you can give it a bit more revs 3000-3500 with sticky tyres. on normal street tyres it will just light tyres up too easy.

remember before when the 6 speed boys were struggling for traction at pod they were only launching at low revs, alex you will have to go to pod and show everyone how to do it now you single turbo. :stickpoke

the crd lads have launched it with a 6 speed doing a 1.5 60foot wich is pretty amazing
